Will America ever be the land of oppurtunity again for natural born US citizens?

Answer:
Not unless the bill fails, our border gets secure and we start deporting.
If natural-born citizens ever work half as hard as naturalized citizens -- sure, why not. I should say that many natural-born citizens would benefit greatly from learning to speak English properly. That's not a money-maker in and of itself, but it's a start. If millions of foreigners can learn English, it's really such a shame that so many native-born Americans have such poor knowledge of it.

"Opportunity" means a chance to get somewhere by working hard. It doesn't mean having something handed to you on a silver platter.

To those who thumb me down: Go ahead, thumb-down away. It won't change the fact that you are lazy, overfed, whiny losers stuck in a mentality of entitlement. You need an internship in North Korea -- that'll teach you to appreciate the opportunities you have. Make an effort for once in your leisurely lives, push yourselves -- you might like the results.
It can be, but only when we take the government back from the Democrats and Republicans!

There is no reason that natural born Americans and immigrants (legal immigrants, of course) can't make it in this society if we stand together and get rid of the cancers in Washington D.C.

LIBERTARIAN FOREVER!
America has never been natural born. We are a land of immagrants. The only natural-born people are native americans. Everyone came across a body of water. We should be proud that so many love this country so much, they are willing to work so hard to contribute to our economy!
No sadly I really think not
It will always be the land of opportunity if they so make it to be.
Most Natural born Americans are a bunch of lazy people who can't even speak the English language very well, they whine about everything and nothing.
And yes if they get of their lazy butts and start working and stop trying to live on welfare, they can have the American dream again. Immigrants are living the American dream everyday.
No if that dang bill passes.
It will end opportunity as we know it.
The NAACP will founder as they rightfully continue seeking better opportunities for young black people. The money for higher education will be spent on the illegals and their offspring.
It's already happening in some states.
Native Americans will fall to the back of the line again.
Americans will have the opportunity to see Medicare and Social Security collapse.
Americans will have the opportunity to see the US changed by rampant 3rd world mentalities.
Not unless we fight towards that end. As the situation currently stands, our leaders are too busy saving all the third-worlder's lives - the ones now alive and the millions more that will be born by these baby-poppers - if they had their way, you'd be put at the back of the line until they cared for all these people.
It still is. But, as Redisca said, it doesn't come easy. The "land of opportunity" for your grandfather and great-grandfather meant that they had the opportunity to work 70 hours a week, and keep what little they earned. If you offer a job like that to an American youngster, they'd laugh at you. They want it free and easy. That is what never was and never will be.

Today, I find that hiring a legal immigrant is often better than hiring a natural born American. My best example of that is when I was trying to hire a proofreader for my company, and I ended up hiring a (legal immigrant) Spanish-speaker, because her knowledge of English was so far superior to any of the Americans I tested.

By the way, learn how to spell. Opportunity is spelled with an "o". Take a hint. I've never hired anyone with errors on their resume. It's a competitive world, and the opportunities are there for those who are willing to work hard and be excellent at whatever it is they do. If you demonstrate right away that you don't care and you're sloppy, then there's no market for that.
Redisca, I love your response. Absolutely true. The land of opportunity is and will be there, as to a proactively seeks to access the opportunity is another question. Blaming your lack of success on your inability to fulfill your dreams because you're lazy and lack credentials is a shame.
