If the penalties were greater, like maybe 5-10 years in prison, then maybe companies in the U.S. would stop hiring illegal immigrants and they wouldn't have a reason to come. Plain and simple if we stopped hiring them, they wouldn't come here! It's not rocket science folks, it's reality. Maybe we should think about sever punishments and more thorough screening for new hries and not a rediculous cost of the employer. If we want to get serious about this, we can. If we really want to. But then again what's the difference, we have all kinds of law now that we don't enforce. So why bother right?

Sure, we could stop illegal immigration right now if we wanted to punch a hole in our economy a mile wide. Agriculture and construction are two of the primary factors in our economy. Illegal immigrant labor has become the life blood of these industries. Stopping illegal immigration would make prices go up, output to go down, and cause a major recession.
Jami G I think you should run for president! I would work my *** of begging people to vote for you. I agree with you 100% could not have said it better myself. But it seems to me you and I are the only people in the world who see a solution. God knows our government obviously does not!
We definitely need tougher laws for employers. Maybe in addition to jail time, we could impose sanctions on the company like we do with countries who do not comply with certain regulations of the United Nations. Extra taxes for 10 years would be a good one. We also need tougher laws for overcrowding of apartments and houses. There was a fire in Somerville Mass. a few years ago and 15 Haitians were killed, some living in the basement. Overcrowding causes confusion among the residents and accidents can happen.
