As an Amerian citizen, what can you do?
Answer:
The problem is not the language; it is the unwillingness of recent immigrants to become a part of the American society. All other immigrant groups in the past have come here with the idea of becoming an American, fitting in, contributing to the country. Some of the more recent immigrants seem only to be here to make a dollar. While I do not begrudge them the jobs, I do wish they could at least make an effort to become a part of the culture.
I dont think having other cultures or languages will affect anything in a major way. There isnt enough influence politically from any other major language such as spanish to make a change from english.
Your information is in accurate. America doesn't have an official language; I wish we did, but we don't. However, I don't think preserving democracy and English as an official language are related.
There is no official language in the United States. At one time, our founding fathers considered it, but Benjamin Franklin discouraged the idea.
Why should if be anyone's business what language is spoken by anyone else?
As an "Amerian" citizen I think it is better for our children's "furture" if they are able to speak several languages, as is the norm in most countries in the world.
As a "multlingual" person I can tell you it is great to be able to understand several languages. I don't think it will hurt "American" in the future. What may hurt "American" in the future is "ignance."
Illegals suck, The language should be English, but unfortunately I think you going to hear Press # 3 for Iraqis
Preserving our democracy ? So democracy only exist in English? We are a multilingual society..always have been and always will be !
I think English should be the official language. Without this, American will be hurt in the long run. We are so scattered now with things being in so many languages and people not being expected to learn English.
Number one. We're not a democracy nor should we be. However the language barrier being created in this country is in fact an issue and problem. We should have a national common language yes.
how can it hurt the future? lots of countries speak Spanish and they are all fine
I say to those companies that put english and spanish on their products. They are supporting the illegal immigrants.
The most spoken language in the world is Mandarin (Chinese). Next is English. Guess where Spanish is on the list?
All that "multicultural" hype can now be tossed. The official language in many states has been voted on by the electorate. In case you missed it, English was unanimously chosen as the official language.
I think what started here earliest (English ) is what should be the spoken language here. Why do people from other countries come here and stay for many years but never bother to learn the language. I would if i moved to a foreign country. It is somewhat ignorant when it offered free everywhere to learn!!!
well if we go back to the roots........ we would be learning several languages.......the native americans spoke many many languages.......are you prepared to study that much ?........oh_hell
WE speak English, yes every thing is here is written in English we took English in school we studied the proper way to write it. It is about time that we make English as the official language.
I agree that it is hurting America.
Livin in u.s and born in u.s we are exhibited rights like we can choose what religion we want, to do whatever we want but make sure it doesnt cause any trouble, we can like or dislike anything, we can listen to any type of music we want, we can like any type of movie the list goes on and on.
