Does anyone think that the Amnesty Bill under consideration will work?
Obviously the attempts in 1986 and 1996 did not work. So, what makes people think this bill will work when it is doing the same thing?

NOT A CHANCE! It will make things much worse. It will bankrupt our country!
Illegal immigration has nothing to do with race, so put away the race card. This is about our laws. The illegals are criminals for breaking our laws!
That doesn't even address the fact that our border problems will increase and the provisions are not enforceable. First we GIVE 20+ million illegals legal status. Then there's the MILLIONS of family member that will get legal status. Don't forget about the millions that will come and lie about when they arrived in the US.
Then there's the kicker - the BILLIONS more that will come for the next round of amnesty. Do you really think that the current illegals will continue at their low paying jobs. They will become friends with the want ads to take more jobs away from Americans. Then the employers will scream that they can't get workers and that they need more workers (AKA illegals)!
NO AMNESTY! ENFORCE OUR CURRENT LAWS! CRACK DOWN ON EMPLOYERS TO DRY UP THE JOB MARKET SO THESE CRIMINALS WILL SELF-DEPORT!

Not just from the historical standpoint, but it means the government will actually have to do something, and we all know that is not going to happen.
The answer is, they don't want it to work. What the people pushing this bill want, is for Mexico and Canada to be totally dependent upon the U.S. and for the U.S. to be the top dog in a North American Union situation.
That is why they don't care how many illegal aliens we have in this country. That is why we have over 30,000 troops guarding the Korean border, and about 6,000 guarding our border. Please explain to me how that makes any sense at all.
I saw a Democratic Senator, Menendez from NJ say we can't deport all the illegal aliens, because it would cost 250 Billion. Why is ok to spend more than that on the Iraq War, but not on our own nation?
In order to truly stop illegal immigration, you have to do three things: 1. Strengthen the border 2. Remove incentives for people to come here (government assistance) 3. Deport illegals who are arrested or stopped by law enforcement.

I doubt it. I think it will not be enforced and let illegals continue to stream in. I also think that what ever money given to border patrol will be eaten away by corruption and no additional funds would be offered when inflation eats away at the money granted by the bill.
No I don't think it will work and evidently we aren't shouting loud enough. First thing we need to do is Secure the borders and let the Border Patrol do their job without worrying about their own selves going to jail for doing it. We may have to get together and go down to the border and enforce it Our Self.
After it is secured send all the illegals that are felons back to their own country,everyone of them. Then go through the rest, The ones that are working and assimilating into the American way of life, issue Temp. ID/Tax cards. After a time if they are not a burden to this country then make them citizens. No welfare/foodstamps or free medical,They must pay like we do!
It hasn't worked before and it wont work now. It will only worsen things,the numbers of illegals are much higher now.

It would undermine enforcement, give a rolling amnesty after ten years to all NEW illegal immigrants, and would certainly not solve illegal immigration. Having read it, I can categorically opine that it was never meant to.
