In my experience, it is because of the amount of immigrants that we all want to move! I am British and moved to Oz 2 years ago. I know loads of other young professional people that feel the same. Britain is too crowded and dirty now - we love Britain, but the politics stink. And don't be too cocky - the Aussies don't take silliness too well!

this has always been the case. The British love to complain, if it's not the weather then it's the immigration situation.
Britons emigrate and do not feel a sense of irony simply because the days of the British Empire are so ingrained in our psyche that we feel we are doing the countries we are emigrating to a big favour.

I certainly do! They are doing exactly what they complain about immigrants to this country do. Personally I think too many people moan but do not do anything about the issues themselves. People need to participate more and do something. Moaning by itself never solves anything.
