They get tired. Thinking is tiring and too often painful.

-meth
-weren't smart in the first place
there are many, many reasons.

cause they dont study and they get fs on their test
and they dont care about their grades

I have a nephew who has a mental problem he was real smart as a baby and child . he slowly started to slow down until he was completely retarded It was so sad for my family and him. It was some kind of disease

No one reads. anything. No newpaper, no magazine, and God forbid, certainly not a book. Ask a middle schooler how many books he's read in his life. Good chance he'll laugh and say " None!" But what about school book reports? They just get the info on line ( or from a YA user here) or just take a zero.

With age peoples metabolism slows down and the body replaces old cells at a slower rate. I'm 55 and have noticed that I think a little bit slower than I used to but not much slower yet. I still have a desire to learn--part of being smart is wanting to learn new things. People usually learn more about things they are interested in.
Its just like the sayin "If you don't use it, you lose it."
