Do Puerto Ricans accept or reject the association that they have with the United States?
Answer:
Puerto Rico is almost evenly split with 3 opinions. Those that want independence, those that like being a commonwealth & those that want to be a state. This has been a controversy for many years. Since people can't decide between state or independence, it stays as a free commonwealth. In my opinion it is good this way. It has its ups & downs. Like P.R. pays sales tax but no federal tax, however PR recieve some federal aid, but not all. & we can't vote in the presidential election, however we have house reps.
Also, PR is a part of the US, so Puerto Ricans are NOT immagrants, so this questions should not be under immagration.
i think puerto rico should stay the way it is. if it becomes a state, then we'll have to put one more star on the american flag.
lol dar
it's all 3. i hope your not on here trying to start trouble with the Americans on American soil and the puerto ricans.
the House of Representatives seems likely to pass a bill that would put Puerto Rico on a path to statehood or independence.

All Peurto Ricans feel exactly the same way about everything. There are no differences of opinion on any subject in Peurto Rico. However, the opinion that they all share is a secret.
Last time they voted on it they voted to keep it the way it is. However, I understand the Puerto Rican Senator wants to be senator of a state and wants them to vote on it again, then if it doesn't come out the way he wants, he wants them to vote on it again every 8 years until it does.
I think the people of Puerto Rico should have a chance to vote for Statehood. Adding to the field of stars is no problem.
