Disagree- too many people are waiting in the wings willing to fill out documents to enter this country legally to give preference to criminals that couldn't exercise even simple common courtesy by at least knocking before coming in.

First of all "Undocumented Workers" is just a PC term for Illegal Aliens...and that is what they are illegal aliens...well to argue your point...Mexico has tougher immigration laws than we do...and the first people to live in Mexico took land and killed the natives...the Spanish were a lot more harsher on the Natives than the English and French were...a class in World History might do you some good...I say they broke the law, send them back...and I am not racist I am married to a LEGAL Colombian Immigrant...
I'll talk about anything including the early founding of this country. Was what we did to the natives bad. Sure it was. However, it is also true that the natives didn't have an ownership of land in their culture. They jumped at the chance to sell the land to the settlers for trinkets and firewater. They thought they were taking advantage of the settlers. Should the settlers have known better. Sure, but things were just different during that time period. Slavery was legal in most places. I agree we should shut the border and then let those who are here earn citizenship, but nothing should be given to them.

If the people here now want to pay back taxes to contribute to an already ailing social security system, then I would be more open to the idea.
The truth is 10,000 illegals make their way into the country everyday. Closing the border will stifle this flow, not stop it.
I am totally against illegals getting ANY of my tax money for ANY reason. They don't contribute, they don't deserve the benefits.
In addition, what the settlers did to the native americans wasn't fair or right. But it has little to no bearing on what is going on with Mexicans crossing our borders illegally to eagerly work for pennies on the dollar, drive without licenses, and violate single family housing codes.
Keep in mind, when the pilgrims came to America-they were establishing a new country and government. Now the rules are set-and the laws are more important than ever with the terrorism. We have laws, they broke them coming here, staying and working here. They do not pay taxes, they do not assimulate with our culture, they won't learn english or pretend they don't know english, they don't have insurance leaving taxpayers to pay the bill for medical costs and school fees. If they want to be citizens-great, but they have to follow the same process as anyone else. There are people who have been waiting for years to become citizens following our laws-why should these illegals be able to become citizens ahead of them? If they refuse to comply with our laws-they need to leave.
If I decided to be an undocumented visitor in your living room how would you feel? It is wrong to just go where you want with no regard for laws or people's feelings.
The bigger question is will we build a wall on the north side of the country? Canada is filled with French people and in general I find them much more bothersome than the fine people of Mexico. The French have continually thumbed their noses at us! Build that fence first!

No, when someone brings that up I point out that yes, there were problems. I also point out that there are differences in the ways that the British, French, Scotch-Irish, and Spaniards behaved toward those already here. Each nation had different approaches, and different levels of violence - the Spanish were the worst, by far. I also point out that by the time the colonies were established, the Native Indians had become just as dependent upon the Europeans, as the Europeans had upon them - each had resources the other wanted. The Native Indians in some areas welcomed the settlers, and freely traded land for guns, to be able to conquer other tribes. I also point out the tribal warring and conquests that were going on long before any Europeans arrived. Also, the native Indians believed in general, shared territories, not land ownership. And, you cannot judge any of them by today's standards. In the case of the Puritans in New England (led by John Winthrop), they believed that they were on a divine mission, to create an ideal society. They did not have the understanding of science that we do today, and felt that most things were the rewards and punishments of God.

The Constitution also accepts, and calls for, immigration and naturalization laws. In the history of the US, immigrants have always been welcomed, and there have been laws regulating immigration. To close the borders competely goes against the foundation of the government, but it does need to be done in a systematic, legal way.
Every country in the world has been conquered. New, stronger people come in and take over. That is part of human nature. So, yes, white Europeans came and took over America, raping and killing the Indians. Look at England - from the Celts to the Vikings to the Romans - they've all had either claim to the land.
But typically the invaded put up a fight. If we allow Mexicans to move in and take over our country (by refusing to follow our laws and Constitution) then we would probably be the first country to watch as our nation is conquered. We are one of the most powerful countries in the world and our government refuses to stop an invasion? That is just ridiculous.
In the first place, "they always answer" it was in the past " is a false generalization. In the second, lands have been invaded and conquered all over the world since the dawn of civilization. The so called stealing from the Native Americans and Mexicans isn't even an argument because neither premises are based on fact.
Since you're apparently having a hard time understanding, let me draw you an analogy - let's say you're running water for a bath. You let some water in and say, "There is already water in the tub so why not let in a little more?" So you keep letting the water run. Pretty soon you're up to the rim of the tub, so do you say again, "There is already water in the tub so why not let in a little more?" or do you shut the water off before the tub overflows and possibly causes expensive damage to your home? We're just wanting to shut the water off.
My problem with your question is the premise (not fact) that the first Americans murdered and stole land. It's called occupation and it's sometimes done forcefully, sometimes gradually. But just as in war, it happens all the time. Lands change hands and/or rulers. That's how it has always been.

That's because there's a big difference between what happened hundred of years ago and what is happening today. When I hear you people complaining about the Spanish invaders of this continent the way you complain about the English invaders, maybe I'll view your argument as something more than a joke.
Now, why is it that the invader apologists keep trying to change the subject? Why is it that they can't come up with a single *real* argument for letting the invasion of illegals continue? That depends on what you mean by "a chance". Amnesty or make them go home and apply or something in between. As far as comparing the first americans and illegal immigrants the difference is civilized modern law and world exploration by people who believed they were entitled. BIG difference.

It is mostly the younger population of illegals that have the mentality of "This land is my land I want it back" I wish that people would learn what happens when immigration takes over like in California and the mass of problems it causes..

That is crap!! We have a hard enough time in this country trying to keep the jobs we do have IN the United States!! My husband was a technical trainer for a cellular manufacturer who trained people on the troubleshooting and repair of GSM and CDMA technology. He would train people in the plants in the U.S. , Brazil and Mexico. He in essence trained himself right out of a job. They just closed the U.S. plant and where did the jobs go? You guessed it...Mexico and China. Why don't they (the illegals) just go home. heck, our jobs are going down there anyway.
The job market is hard enough right now without having people who are here illegally take the jobs available because they will do it without insurance or for less money. It has nothing to do with whos land it was first. It has everything to do with breaking the law. Would you be mad if someone broke into your house and told you that because they washed your dishes, they shouldn't be asked to leave? Of course you would! They broke into your house. It's against the law to do that! When are people going to get real?
I have no problem with immigrants coming to our land to make a better life for themselves.but they need to get in line and do it legally just like my ancestors had to!

I think we need to close our borders to NEW immigrants but, the ones here NOW should be allowed to stay and work.
