You should include a request for a work Visa along with your study Visa. My daughter took a course that was both classroom and work site so the school arranged both permits. In order to work you will need a Social Security Number so check everything out with the American Consulate nearest you well in advance.
Immigration is very tricky. I work with a Canadian who was raised in Yorkshire, England and is now back in Canada. He is a cross border trucker and was twice denied a FAST card which speeds up the processing at the border.

Find an accredited college, and aks them for info all good colleges or uni have depts that can assist you in this process. Free.
