Why do some people act as if the "$5,000 fine" means it's not an amnesty?
Answer:
Funny how you want the workers to pay their back taxes, but don't care if the corporations who employ them pay their fair share of taxes.
Stop giving them jobs, and the immigration will take care of itself. The republicans have been notoriously two-faced about this issue. They hate the workers, but love the companies that hire them. Hypocritical if you ask me.
while it has some detrimental aspects, it's something. it won't help anything, but it makes the politicians act like it does.
This is an Amnesty bill. No other way around it.
Yes , you are so right . By giving them amnesty we are playing right into LaRaza's hands to take back the Southwest .
In one more generation it will be done , because of the anchor babies ( who are voting now ) and the amnesty given in '86' . It has changed the dynamics of the voters and minority's ,
and will again with this amnesty , if passed by Congress
I don't think any of it will be paid. Think about it, if you're an illegal the last thing you're going to want to do is put your name down on a list and pay $5,000.
This doesn't answer your question, though.
I don't think there is anyway for the American people to reject the bill. Face it, we're in a country where the politicians run everything and neglect their constituency on all issues whether it be the war in Iraq, the Patriot Act, or immigration issues.
But is it really a petty fine?. The average person in the US has at least two kid and many immigrants have more. Any one who was not born here will have to pay so it could be 20or 30thousand dollars--so what are we charging admission? NO cause then one of them has to go back to the "old country" and of course the one is the father -he is also the one most likely to have a job. So who supports them while he goes back and waits to get put on a waiting list huh?
Does this make sense?
Look it comes down to whether we want to ruin the lives of many children in the name of national security!! We need to know who is here, they need to pay thier own way but if they can come up with the money to pay these exhorbitant fines then we will take away the breadwinner of the household? Come on be real -that just isn't the American way is it?
We've become a nation of spinmeisters, and we've gotten so good at it that honesty is almost dead in America.
We accept deceptive ads as normal. We accept political doublespeak as normal. We learn from liars in the media, and we proudly repeat their lies as though we originated them ourselves. We even fluff our resumes, because that's the way we've been taught to do things.
Obviously, not all Americans accept or practice dishonesty, but the percentage is way too high. When we decide that we value straightforward, honest talk, then we'll be back on track.
