It's the lax enforcement of immigration law that has created this situation over time. Are you aware that Cesar Chavez was vehemently AGAINST illegal farm workers taking the jobs of Americans? It was only when power and praise went to his head, that his image morphed into that of a Mexican mestizo racial emblem. Illegal immigrants and their supporters invoke his name, forgetting his original cause: fair treatment of American migrant farm workers.
All I can say is Good. I'm glad they are scared. I'm glad they aren't tending the fields. Capitalism always works and it will work here too.
Here in Michigan produce is sitting fields waiting to be picked. Most places only have a few workers even tho they pay well for the work. We were told. We were warned this would happen- American workers do not want these jobs. So no one is tending the fields and we will all feel it pinch our pocketbook when it comes to groceries and wonder why we have to pay so much for fresh food.
Good! Sounds like the fruit growers will have to hire Americans at reasonable wages. And the racists like you who support slave labor will have to find a new cause to complain about.

The high school and college kids are still finishing spring semesters. They'll be available in a couple of weeks.

The fruit owners will have to pay wages high enough to attract American citizens to work at fruit picking, I guess. So the price of a piece of fruit will go up a couple of cents.
Oh, well, isn't that cheaper than paying the 2.5 trillion it will cost us in social security and other entitlements if we allow the low-paid illegal fruit pickers to stick around?
