How long should a company wait for incoming CVs after posting the job online? When should the company consider the recruitment period closed and stop receiving CVs? Please answer only if you have an answer.

U.S. does not give out perment green cards, they have time limits and must be renewed.

The company has to post its opportunity NATIONALLY (using ALL media available) for a minimum of 6 consecutive calendar months ... AND have received no response from American citizens with suitable qualifications. If they receive ONE qualified American application (even if the applicant turns down the job offer, or the company finds something that doesn't suit them), the 6 month window has to begin again from Day 1.
Only then can the company advertise INTERNATIONALLY, and accept international applicants.
Then the company has to go through the visa approval process (proving they followed all the steps the government has set up to make things tough for them to hire non-Americans), the government has to approve the visa, and the individual has to accept the position.
THEN the individual has to meet the criteria to allow them to apply for a green card ... and that process takes as long as it takes (some of my co-workers have required nearly 8 years to obtain theirs).
(The position I currently hold was first advertised nationally back in early 1998 - the company couldn't accept my non-US application until late 2004).
