How long before N-600 naturalization is complete?

Hi everyone. I became a citizen through my mother and have a American passport. I, however do not have a naturalization certificate so I completed the N-400 form because thats what i was told to do. When it came time for the interview I was informed that the wrong form was completed and that I had to complete the N-600 form just for the certificate of naturalization. Nonetheless I completed the N-600 form and just sent it to immigration. My question is how long would it take for my application to be approved? It is vital for me to have my naturalization certificate for my wife to register for I-485 to get her greencard. Her application was denied for the fact that I did not have my naturalization certificate. Any help with any information would be highly appreciated. Thanks

first of all the American passport is the best form of proof of U.S. citizenship, secondly you will not get a certificate of naturalization, you will get a certificate of citizenship, check the form titles on n-400 and n-600. The n-600 can take up to 9 months, but again you don't need the certificate if you have the U.S. passport. Since you have already made a mistake dealing with immigration forms, make certain your wife can file the i-485. some people file the i-485 because they received an approval notice of form i-130 from immigration stating to contact the local immigration office to inquire if they are eligible to file i-485. if your wife entered without inspection, illegally, and the i-130 is filed after 04-30-2001, then she cannot file i-485, if she entered without inspection and someone else did file the i-130 for her before 04-30-2001or if she was a derivative of an i-130 then she can file i-485. or if she entered legally and still has proof of legal entry she can file i-485. how long ago was she denied,you have time to appeal if denied in the last 30 days, 33 if notified by mail. the immigration officer must not have been aware of your status as a u.s. citizen.
