Immigration from USA to New Zealand? I need to know if it is done.?
Her boyfriend has a Masters degree in something or other, I'm not sure. Something about business maybe. He is 57.
Do any New Zealand people know how he needs to go about applying to immigrate there? How difficult would it be for him to get any kind of a job there? Isn't New Zealand heavily socialist with a closed stagnant economy with high unemployment? Thank you for your help.

I have long sought to move there but now never will be able to do so. But i did do a lot of research.
New Zealand was Socialist before Europe discovered Socialism. The Maori as with all Polynesian cultures, and many Native American, was always heavily Socialist in concept.
Unlike anywhere else however the Maori were able to stand up to the British and reach a compromise, taking the best of each system to make what would be best for New Zealand.
As a result New Zealand stands far above the United States in most measures of quality of life, that if there is an issue it is boredom, as in the negative of the Chinese curse. If at the moment unemployment seems high it is only because they actually measure it as they no longer do in the US where the numbers are hilariously low.
Unfortunately if everyone who wanted to live in New Zealand did, instead of being healthily underpopulated, it would probably be more like Gaza. For this reason it is very hard to emigrate there, and 56 would be considered very old to do so.
It's possible. I have a friend who is doing it as we speak.
He has had two job offers there and they will sponsor him in his quest to also change his citizenship as he is determined to live there for the rest of his life.
At that age, it would be very unlikely that he would be able to immigrate unles he comes with high financial solvency, qualifications and a few other criteria but still I doubt it.
The links provided by others should help you some. I think you are slightly ill informed about the country, but never the less - It will be much easier for him to move here if he has a job lined up. Many companies, especially large ones and the big hotels will often have their HR departments take care of all the paperwork. I know plenty of Americans living here of all ages. I don't know all the ins and outs but a job offer will help his cause.
