Enforce laws already on the books.
Cut ALL Social Benefits for Illegal Aliens(give them 60 days notice.) They will deport themselves.
Secure Southern Border with an $8B 2000 mile fence.
Clarify the 14th Amendment and end the Anchor Baby Loophole.
Make crossing the US Border illegally a Felony.

Amnesty...like we gave for Prohibition violators. It's not really a problem compared to the inequities in the tax system. If the rich paid their fair share, then middle class Americans can get a tax cut and thus share in the benefits globalization too.
Nothing until both borders are secure. Before that it is a waste of time and money to deport people as they would only beat the bus back to the border.

Yes, illegal immigration is a problem. Unfortunately, making them legal OR deporting them could have severe consequences as far as the economy goes. Either way, it will strip us of the ultra-cheap workforce that allows us to compete with countries like Chile and India. If our economy was in tip-top condition, we would probably be able to absorb that hit with little consequence...But because we're paying through the nose for Iraq, it may be just enough to send us into a recession.
In other words - We can wait to deal with it for a little while.

Amnesty is not a solution at all and anyone who thinks so needs to consider the current costs with the illegals being here. It is way too expensive to for the US taxpayer to fund all these people who have no respect for our laws.
The best solution is to require certifiable, picture US citizenship before any freebies are handed out. Thus no green card or visa, no education, medical care, foodstamps, or Social Security benefits.
We stop the freebies, illegals will leave and our welfare state that is being drained by them will start to recoup some lost expenses.
I am truely amazed at those saying these illegals are fleeing problems in their countries or that they are here to better themselves or that this bill is not amnesty.
If they are fleeing problems, why are they sending all their money back to where they come from?
Sure they are here to better themselves. Wouldn't you try to get all you can for free? That's what we do for them, give them a total free pass.

Solution:
1. CLOSE THE BORDERS
2. Physically detain illegal aliens (don't tell me that it can't be done. They had no problem finding and detaining thousands of oriental people during WW2)
3. Offer all the illegal aliens the opportunity to apply for citizenship THROUGH PROPER CHANNELS.
4. Offer those who do not wish to be citizens but do wish to work here STANDARD work visas, requiring their periodic, authenticated return to their home country.
5. Deport those who do not wish to be citizens.
6. Enforce the current immigration laws
Im an american citizen.. born and raised... Family has been here about 3 hundred years. I can't believe how passionate people are against starting a process that will give Illegals the opportunity to become citizens... People are sreaming "AMNESTY"... give me a break.. its a bs word for the uneducated... no proposal currently being reviewed by the house resembles the word. There are punative measures in place which deals with their illegal entry... not a free pass. Bottom line, IMPOSSIBLE TO SEND EVERYONE BACK... NEED TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUE AND LET DECENT HUMAN BEINGS SEEKING A BETTER LIFE OBTAIN STATUS.. use the punative dollars (finance them if you have to... not our taxes) to secure the borders. Unregistered illegals will be easier to find.. INS wont be so swamped. People have no idea what they are talking about... Maybe we should deport all citizens in the US who have a problem with how this country was originally populated... maybe the Native Americans should kick our *** out...

Deport all illegals immediately including any offspring that they conceived while here illegally. If one parent was a legal citizen then they may appeal the deportation of the child if they can prove a means of support. Close all borders...then allow entry only to those sponsored by a US citizen that can prove that they will have employment and a place to stay with total support none of which will be taxpayer funded. All admitted would additionally have to pass all exams and screenings. For those that had been here without paying taxes a requirement to pay in full the amount owed within a certain time frame with no unreasonable penalties. My Grandparents were imagrants.they came here legaly, were gainfuly employed, paid taxes, supported themselves and family completly without any social programs, lived by the law of the land and helped to bring other realitives over as they could. This is how America was built and it is the way it should remain!
If the depoties had established ownership of a bussiness illeagely during their "visit" then that bussiness would be placed in the hands of a mediator whom could either sell it to pay debts owed or negotiate a means of operating it as an absente owner until re-entry has been approved.
Its a HUGE problem. And i know that we can send every illegal mexican in America back but we need to send back the ones we can and get them out of out country!

I compare this bout of legislation with an effort to reform immigration the equivalent of prohibition. It seems like a good idea at the time, but people will still be sneaky to get the job done.
With that being said, people will continue to sneak pass border patrol and gain access to the country, thereby becoming US citizens.
This story about oh let's feel bad for all the immigrants because they are willing to take the lower paying jobs. while this may be true for the actual hard working immigrants, those that are illegal and claim to pay taxes are stealing the social security numbers of Americans. They have good intentions, but aren't patient enough to wait and become a citizen.
If picking my own vegetables becomes an issue. I will just grow a nice garden in my backyard. No harm, no foul.
The way to really help this country maintain control is to volunteer or even try to get a job as a border patrol agent. It's obvious they need help keeping illegals out!
