A very close friend of mie is illegal even though she came here on a visitors visa.?
Answer:
If she is blingual and has a college degree she would do very well in her country of origin. She has a lot to offer. She could work for a large (American?) company based there.
She should have 2 resumes. One in her native language and one in her second language that highlight her being fluent in 2 languages and her college degree etc... Then, she can go to websites, recruiters, contractors etc.. in her native country and hopefully land an awesome job with those skils. She would be independant and well off.
She could leave the country or follow the law
If you say she is in her late 20's, she should check and make sure that she is not eligible for any blanket amnesties. The second thing is to get a good immigration attorney that can prove that she would experience extreme hardship if she returned to her country of origin, which is probably true, because she has lived here for almost her entire life. If she has been married to the husband and filed the appropriate paperwork, she should be able to adjust her immigration staus through him if he is a legal resident or citizen. Talk to friends, look around and find a really good immigration attorney because she sounds like she has a good case because her visa expired when she was a small child, it was not her choice.
Call INS. She is here illegally, and working illegally. She has no respect for our laws, and aparantly, neither do you. If you did, you would not aid and abet a criminal.
She needs to go home and apply to come here legally. Seems like there was plenty of time for her to try and rectify the situation and yet it hasn't been done. She is in the country illegally and unless she becomes legal, her life will not get any better. Sorry.
This sounds hinky to me
I can't believe they would not take her at a shelter because she didn't have a social security number?????
This does not sound right because she can get an ITIN number to work, shelters do not ask for ss numbers (or shouldn't).
Call the IRS for an ITIN number, homeless shelters ask no questions (most), especially those affiliated with a church. Lend her money, sponsor her so that she can become a legal citizen.
This has BS all over it.
Oh please. If she has enough smarts to get a college degree, then she can figure out how to get away from a scumbag and how to get a job. I hear a lot of excuses being made for this person - and that's how she's been getting by for years. It's time to stop enabling her problems! If you want to be a good friend, then do not assist her when she whines. Believe me, she's a survivor. When you stop enabling her excuses you will see how she amazingly is able to accomplish what she needs to do. But she won't as long as suckers like you are around for her to work.
