How hard is it to understand that the majority of the American people want a crackdown on illegal immigration?
Answer:
Actually it's so easy that even Bush understands.

Here's a quote from Lou Dobbs:
Our president told the Guatemalan people that the American people "need to be persuaded" that the U.S. government takes seriously its responsibility to secure our national borders before passing so-called comprehensive immigration reform. I almost got sick to my stomach as I heard President Bush try to explain that he couldn't just throw the borders wide open because his foolish fellow citizens truly believe that their president has first an obligation to secure the nation and the safety of all Americans.
It's not hard at all.
I agree, it's crazy. I'm even a liberal and I want it. :o)
But, truly...we all know why. Corporations enjoy supressing our wages, and the only way to be able to do that is have a constant influx of workers who don't mind working 2 jobs, for like 80 hrs/wk @ $5.15/hr. or less.
Erosion of the middle class is obviously not their main concern.
The majority wanted Bush also - look where it got them
It's all about Politically Correctness. Bush doesn't want to step on toes. He needs a job when he gets out of office.
I don't know how hard it is to understand since I already understand it.
Congress doesn't listen. I don't understand how they can not understand how angry most Americans are.
They only thing that may keep them from destroying America with amnesty (AKA guest worker program) is if they are afraid they won't get re-elected next time.
That's not hard to understand at all. What's hard for me is some people think it's as easy as "build a wall!" or "deport 'em!", and it's just not that simple.
Believe me, the Congress and President get it - but it serves their purpose better to ignore it as that is better for business.
I think the difficult part is not the understanding what the people want, but how to enforce/carry out a crackdown. First of all, it takes a tremendous amount of resource(time, money, manpower) to plan and execute an operation as such in large scale. Second, immigration issue is SO sensitive that basically whoever makes a move can possibly get verbal or even legal roasting from a lot of political groups. Thus, in my opinion, the idea and the desire for it to be solved is there, it's just that there's no easy way to solve it.
I think this is one thing that most Conservatives and Liberals agree on...one thing I have learned is the politicians only listen to the people who elected them if someone else is not waving money in their face...that goes for both parties....we should dump all of them we can next election and elect people who will do something...
i just see the tremendous influx of Americans flocking to go pick oranges, cotton, lettuce tomatoes, apples. or better yet when these items become so expensive because the farmers can not harvest the crop and the rest is rotting in the fields well we will just be good Americans and subsidize them even more. why not try to find a solution rather than just slamming people who want to work. as far as american employers go, you need to wake up and smell the coffee, where do you think the majority of your clothes are made your shoes, when you inquire about your credit card??????? wake up.
You don't even have to think about it. It's so damn obvious,
Some people say build a wall, where? Where in the middle of the ocean. Immigrants are not just from Mexico. Hello people wake up and smell the coffee! This land belongs to the Indians that is why they are free from taxes! Or do you know about another race that doesnt pay taxes!!!!!!!!!
i know i don't get it, you think one of the candidates running for president would state that they would completely try to control illegal immigration and try to make it stop would realize that they might win just for making that statement!
It's hard when the 1s that set law are being pay by big business 2 do nothing or amnesty. So contact your State Sen.Gov. President Bush
& tell them close the borders & NO amnesty or we will vote you out of office???Again
Its kind of a no brainer isn't it, you vote someone into office to be our voice, vote your wishes, but once they get into office, they play DEAF AND DUMB, what gets me even more is when they think we cant think for our selves and vote to their thinking, then say its for your own good,
I have no problem with people coming here to work. It just needs to be combined with enforcement and zero benefits for noncitizens. If we built a wall and eliminated all benefits for noncitizens then we could have a good guest worker program that will benefit our economy and allow people to come here to work. I live in southern ca. Many of the illegals here actually do want to work and work really hard. If we got rid of gvt benefits for those illegals then the financial burden on the US will be far less then the economic one. We need to stay a competitive global economy and shutting off our borders completely isn't necc the best option.
We should also eliminate the rule that if you are born here then you are a citizen. You should only automatically be a citizen if a parent is one.
Guest workers would be a benefit to our economy if we just know who they are, where they are and don't give them taxpayers money and benefits. Then those that come here will actually be here for the right reasons.
it's not hard to understand. people have signed petitions after petitions to stop illegal immigration. our govt don't have the nerve to stand up and say no more. the majority of America is agents illegals.
the corrupt people in charge ( notice I didn't say leaders) are blatantly ignoring the "people" on this issue.
What to do?
Keep and bare arms.
I am an American married to an illegal from Mexico. I also know how important it is that there is a crackdown on illegal immigration but I also have to look at his through my babies eyes. I know no one has an answer and they are steadily pouring in but we will never be able to get them all out or take away from them till they starve. For every person who wants them gone there is someone who needs them here and even more who are sympathetic towards them. Everyone argues about this issue constantly its just causing more poeple to hate one another but I know one thing. My husband is a wonderful person who has no criminal record, pays his taxes and takes care of his kids. Its not hard to understand that a crackdown should be done. It should be done on the illegals who choose not to live productively in society. Thats alot. Then build the fence and work it out with the rest. We all want to fulfill our dreams in life and mine is to keep my family together. What so hard for you to understand about that?
Evidently, it is beyond the mental scope of the GUBMINT !!!
Yeah sure, they want to "crackdown" on it, but they don't want to be burdened with the knowledge that they are ruining people's lives and separating families. You make me sick.
I agree. Now if only the politicians could get heads out of the sand on this and do something about it.
