Illegal aliens?

Everyone in america is illegal except the indians? And no one talks about that... Lets get there opinions on this whole issue?
im sure they didnt want hundreds of pale faces bringing disease and guns, taking their land either?

Answer:
Of course no one really asked me. I am in fact from the Nez Perce tribe from the State of Idaho. I am an enrolled member and have been and since my parents applied for me to be enrolled.

My view, notice I said "MY VIEW" on immigration differs from others. People do not know or never did research on when Native Americans were actually granted "American" status, it was in 1924. All of my family of voting age has voted since we registered. This year my oldest nephew turned 18 and is excited he will be able to vote.I have four more nephews that think like I do. Most of my family has the same views on the immigration debate as I have, but not all though I'm still working on them. We all have been educated and worked hard to get where we are. To anyone who thinks we do not pay taxes, this year the taxes I had to pay would have been enough for a nice used car so I'm talking in the thousands I had to pay.

OK, to get to the point, I do not see "illegal" if the ones that cry illegal alien won't first look at them selves or how their ancestors treated the indigenous or how their ancestors WERE able to obtain land that they claimed. I have heard more than enough times to "get over it" or "they had no claim or laws for controlling immigration" which just isn't true. Still think we had no claim? Treaties signed to save my people from extinction say other wise. Nomads, yes but we stayed within the same areas for thousands of years . Moved during the seasons for what we needed. Even now I live within 200 miles of my ancestral lands that was stated in the treaty of 1855, which of course was broken. I have absolutely NO problem with the so called "illegals". They have never stolen from me or asked for anything.
TRUE!!
People don't realize that Immigration today isn't that dissimiliar from those of our forefathers.
thats WAAAY too inconvenient to pay attention to that fact. Stop spreading those hurtful truths around. people don't like it.
The Indians had no nation. They had inter-warring tribes. They didn't have any settlements - they were nomads, and they didn't farm the land, or own the land.

So, nothing was stolen.
No, everyone is an immigrant, brilliance, not illegal.
Oh, please - let's be silly here.

That was another place in time, and every country in the world has been overtaken by others. It was the way things were done back then - the ones with the best weapons won the land.

Today, it isn't about immigration at all. It's about ILLEGAL immigration. Can't you people understand that?
I'm sorry if you feel you are illegal but I am not. My family came here legally, did the paperwork, learned the language, learned the history and became citizens. There is no illegality here.

So your family snuck in huh? Get out!
That's logically true, but not politically smart.
Please join the rest of us in the current century. And just so you understand, the Indians did not have one nation here. Many did not have sophisticated forms of government. What happened to them was wrong, but attempting to compare the two is a bit ridiculous.
OK you want a honest answer then better be ready to give me alot of thumbs down ratings, because we all know people dont like the truth.

Yes, native Americans were here before "we" were, and we did take their land. But this is my home now, and I will not let anybody kick me out of my own house. I will shoot or stab you before that happens
yes, but do to overcrowding, and many other issues, it is time to close the gates for awhile!! its like turning on the lights and watching all the **** roaches scatter, our great nation is being infested.
No, because Native Americans didn't become Amerians until the US was formed. Plus the Mexicans also did their share of enslaving , genocidal war and disease preading. Americans didn't do much to the California Natives. The Mexicans were the one's who wiped them out with small pox because they were losing the war to control California.
True, I'm sure they didn't want that. However, they didn't have any laws against it which means that coming here then wasn't illegal. We do have laws against it now and anybody coming here to live without going through the proper channels is doing so illegally.
that is so true...people tend to forget that. You Rock!
omg will you ppl seriously need to get over that! I hate when ppl say things like 'Everybody came here illegally' or 'This land was Native land before white ppl came in,,,'

While I don't deny those things, this all happened HUNDREDS of years ago! When something happens that long ago, it's time to grow up and move on! and stop complaining about things from a time were nobody is even alive anymore!

The whole argument is childish! Grow up, move on, and get over it!
No, they aren't illegal. Please do some history research. We won the land from the Indians. No, war isn't nice, but if I remember correctly the Indians fought also.
I am part American Indian.I really don't think the first people who landed were illegal. People have melted in over the centries. The people coming nowdays don't want to melt in.They want to make America into their old country. It is bringing everyone down.
No we are not. We were born here and I'm assuming you were too. I'm not gonna say what early Americans did to the Indians is right, but, I didn't do it, nor did my ancestors do it. Also, please do go talk to the Indians about the issue, they will tell you the same thing. They don't want the illegals here either, it hurts them too. Also, America is one of the easiest countrys to get citizenship to, come on do it right. My great grandparents did.

And for you people spouting off about the indians, do you know any? I do, I live in South Dakota, and most of them will tell you that they work, pay taxes, send their kids to school, and are productive members of society.
How did the Indians get here?
How far back do you want to go, to try to rationalize the invasion of a soveriegn nation by millions of criminal aliens?

We have had a structured government for over 200 years.
With laws in place that prohibit illegal entry into this country.

"everyone in America is illegal.." That is absolutley wrong.

The fact that the country was formed by mistreating the inhabitants, that could be said of most countries.
The Indians had NO governmental structure in place, had no need for immigration laws. Therefore, in every aspect your statement is untrue.

We are being invaded by unskilled, illiterate, disease carrying criminals. The fact that you try to rationalize this by bringing up the Indian argument shows that you are either an anarchist, or just a confused liberal.
Well actually if you research native americans, they did not just magically appear here either. Those down in Texas came from Mexico, those closer to Washington and California came from Russia. The reason they are called "Indians" is because the people who first came to this country thought they were in India. They are not Indians.

Christopher Colombus was from Italy. Not totally pale.

My great grandparents did come here legally. Infact my family has a copy from Ellis Island of when my great grandmother came into this country (100 years ago!)

Every country has been through changes.
Not really. Open a few history books before you spout off that everyone is illegal. When the Europeans landed on the North American continent, there were problems. But at the same time, there were chiefs like Powhatan that were more than glad to get their hands on the Europeans' guns in order to continue conquering other tribes. They were glad to swap land for them. In their culture, there was no such thing as land ownership, only territorial tribal rights. And, "illegal" immigration refers to those people who do not follow the legal process for immigration. These laws were set at the inception of the U.S. Constitution and the creation of the current form of government. My ancestors came legally - following the codes of law of the nation that they moved to. All we ask is that others do the same. And, I was born on this soil, I have no other home.
O my God ..will you give that " what about the indians" a rest !! My God ..that was hundreds of years ago ..we cant help what our forefathers did back then...but they did work hard for what they got ...like we still do today!! and dont even go saying that the illegals are not hurting us...if you are so concerned about them ..help them to go back home and fight for an Independence Day in their own homeland and stop running from their problems.isn't that what we Legal Americans teach our own kids? GEZZZ
Yes but in those days the entry requirement was murder and slaughter Indians and buffalo not a 20-25 year wait for a green card.

And through all this I have yet to hear an American Indian complain their culture must find everything they have witnesed since other cultures stepped foot on THEIR land simply plain disgusting.

And for old matey above if your forefathers robbed and stole does that mean its ok for you to keep the proceeds later, same thing happened through WW2 when tthe germans murdered and stole from the Jews they cannot keep the paintings and valuables today that were original stolen.

Or is it ok to keep because it happened a while ago??

.
Indians would be illegal too, no? I mean they're from India, aren't they? You mean early indigenious people, some of them would be illegal too since they likely migrated from Russia. How far back do you want to go?
This is yet more nonsense.
The Native Americans usually make their opinion about the "invasion" well know on Columbus Day. If you don't know how they feel or what they think perhaps you should inform yourself a little more.
i agree with you.

When you say immigration reform, today most people immediatly think of Mexico. However, virtually every race and culture who immigrated to America initially received the same resistance by those already here. Watch a Leo deCaprio movie called "Chicago".that was about the Irish immigrants who were treated subhuman socially. The Italians, the Cicilians, Japanese,.you name it...they all got resistance at some point. Most people don't want to admit it, but it comes down to racism. It's like one day everyone walked outside and realized, there are alot more people here today that don't speak english and are brown.. than what were here yesterday.and they don't like it. They feel unconfortable. The excuse that ..."they are taking our jobs" is just that...and excuse. Nobody "TAKES" your job. They applied for the job, and got hired. If someone comes to this country uneducated, and non-english speaking...and they get the job before you...then maybe you should get educated so your not competing for that job. That's America !

The only people who have a right to complain about immigration are native Americans. When is the last time you saw a entire native American family/tribe.. just kickin it, at Red Lobster ? NEVER ! We don't hear them complaining, because there aren't enough of them left to complain.

In my opinion, we should remove the plaque from the statue of liberty, because it no longer reflects the welcoming additude this nation was founded on. It's false advertising. In addition, maybe we should stop telling the world that we are the world's greatest nation...then maybe people won't want to come here so badly.
I really hope you aren't serious because if you are you are so ignorant about history and the FACTS!

When the colonists came to this land there was no country. There were no immigration laws to break. They were here to build a country and that's what they did. So they were NOT ILLEGALLY HERE!

When they people immigrated and came through Ellis Island, there were laws and the people came LEGALLY. They followed the rules and obeyed the immigration laws.

Personally I have ancestors from England, Canada and Switzerland. They ALL CAME LEGALLY! My mother immigrated LEGALLY from Canada in the early 1950s and was in the process of becoming a citizen when she died. Don't tell me my ancestors were illegals!

Today 20+ million illegal aliens are criminals because they are breaking our laws. This is a totally different issue.

So, get off your high horse and stop spreading lies. Our ancestors came legally. MILLION of people are here illegally. Why don't you complain about them?!
I'm part indian so I guess someone got along.

It really doesn't matter anymore what happened hundreds of years ago. There's not a darn thing anyone can do about it. It's not right to generalize and blame people or hold them personally responsible for something a few people did ions ago. Find out who the first people on the Mayflower were and take it up with them. A vast majority of this countrys population came here long after any of the things you refer to happened. More than just "pale" faces settled this country so get off the "white" kick. People from all over the globe came here.every race and color, and still come today.

You're hating people based on the color of the first settlers and you couldn't pick between white people and know if they are ancestors of the original settlers, just got their citizenship or are here on vacation.

Your racism and ignorance is showing.

This has been brought up endless times and it doesn't wash any better than the "racism" or sob stories or anything else. There's LEGAL ways to come here NOW and ILLEGAL ways. That's the issue.
Native Americans were themselves, not so native...

"WHERE DID THE INDIANS COME FROM?

Like the white settlers, the first Indians were immigrants. Anthropologists say they came from northeastern Asia . They resembled the early Mongoloid people of that region. Nobody knows when or how they came. They probably arrived when ice sheets covered much of northern North America . This may have been 20,000 to 30,000 years ago.

They may have come because they were wandering hunters, like most people of that era. They crossed the Bering Strait to Alaska , seeking new hunting grounds. Bridges of land existed then, making passage easy. There seem to have been ice-free land and game in Alaska and open land east of the Rocky Mountains , leading into the heart of North America . Perhaps the Indians moved along this area as they needed new hunting grounds. Gradually the ice melted, and the Indians spread to most parts of both Americas . They did not fill this vast area. It has been estimated that only about 1,025,000 were living north of Mexico when the first white men came to America ."

Then they should have passed laws to stop it and should have enforced them, just as we need to.

We should learn from their mistakes.
