A question about racial pride?

why do illegals say that they come here for a *better* life, but still say stuff like viva mexico ?
If its better up here, why the pride in mexico?
It seems a bit inconsistent

Answer:
My Wife is from Brazil...she has great pride in her country...and that is fine.I never hear her say anything that would put America down...her take on this is simple...It's called Respect...She admits that she is here for a better life, however she came here legally too...when we went to visit for the first time after we were married, she was afraid that I would have such a negative reaction to Brazil because of the poverty and squalor...her family painted the house and tried their best to make their house look good...just because I was coming...I was humbled by that gesture...I hold her family in high esteem and they feel the same way about me...Now if I had done in Brazil what the Illegals are doing here in the US like having demonstrations and demanding rights, I would be just as guilty as them...in this way, I feel that Illegals that had demonstrated had no class whatsoever...in my opinion...if they had any "Pride", they would have just kept working and kept their mouths shut...after all, you dont bite the hand that feeds you...
I know...that would be like me saying "I Love America" then taking the first plane out to a country that's better.
And if a white person says anything about having racial pride, they are immediately labeled a bigot and racist.
No one ever accused them of being Mensa Candidates.
They look at America as nothing more than money. Their loyalty remains in mexico for the most part. That is why they don't want to become citizens.
They come here to steal from the American taxpayer. Now think honestly, are you going to take pride as being a part of the group of people you're carrying crimes out against?
they do know their gov sucks but anyway they are proud of their heritage, culture, etc.
first of all this question only shows how ignorant you truly are
the only people that I have heard say Viva Mexico, are those that were born in the US
and are proud of their heritage
[now you know]
uhhhhhh..
well most of us love america. but we can't just forget about our cultures, especially the older people.

besides how do you wan't them to express them selfs towards this country when they are constantly being attacked?
sometimes you have to work with someone you don't necessarily agree with. thats life

but i see your point.
The US oppresses people throughout the world and then are surprised when they object? Its not just the Mexican's who protest this country, when Bush travels abroad he isn't received with open arms, is he?

As far as migrating here, it is still better to be oppressed here than in countries targeted by the US for exploitation. Mexican citizens do NOT leave their country because they no longer love it, they just need a paycheck. Wouldn't you cross an invisible line to feed your children if they were hungry? This country targets these Latin American countries, takes their resources and then you expect them to be happy about it? You get what you give...
who knows? but I have the same mixed feelings about any person from another country holding and waving their country’s flag?
I have pondered this and have come up with no conclusion.
The only answer I could think of to appease me is that they have respect for their past and want to represent it. And that is fine, because there are a lot of immigrants from around the world with different flag representation.
The problem I have is that many immigrants come here and refuse to respect the US and its laws and it patriotism. It’s one thing to take pride in your past; it’s another to damn your future.
Live where you want and respect that. Stop claiming you want a better life without assimilating into that county’s culture and damning it with your own!!
:rant over:

edit: i agree with crazybird!! @_@
I tend to agree with seximexi. Even though my great grandparents arrived here from Ireland, I was raised to still feel pride in my Irish heritage. I do remember hearing stories from my grandmother about "Irish need not apply," and even when I was a kid, I remember hearing the father of a friend of mine tell me that he didn't want him to hang around with "the Irish." LOL!

That said, I am proud to be an American, and my family has always felt the same. I love this country, and always shall.
I'm proud of being a woman but I don't hate men. I'm proud of being white but I don't think that makes me better. I'm proud of being a fairly good artist but I don't put down people who aren't. I'm proud of my children but I don't think that makes be a better mom or that it was solely my doing. There's pride and then false pride and then what do you do with it that matters.

Just like everything.it's a double-edged sword. Pride is one of the deadly sins. It can be something good or something bad...depending on what you do with it. It's one thing to be proud of your heritage on a day set aside to honor it.it's another when it's used to club people with or when you try and make yourself feel artifically better for it.

You can be proud of your heritage even when it's got a less than steller past because of the endurance of the people and in spite of problems they've worked themselves through.

I guess the problem I've seen is this idea their country is "better" than this one..which, like you..what the heck are you here for then? As well as "brown is better" attitude and our econonmy would fail if not for them and on down the line. No.they aren't "better" people than anyone elses race here.

It's that old I "feel better about myself if I tear you down" syndrome. When fact is.you don't have to tear other people down when you stand on your own merits.
There can be no divided allegiance here. Teddy Roosevelt.

To paraphrase Teddy in a later speech..anyone who displays allegiance to another nation should not be here. He was referring to legal immigrants..this is even more applicable to illegal aliens, I think.
Again to paraphrase..Any man who shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American.

If you don't love it..leave it. Those here ONLY for a paycheck..are about as welcome as any parasite.
And why should they be consistent for you?

Do you think we give a flying fig for what you think?
Just like the Irish still march in the St. Patrick's day parade when there families have been here for hundreds of years. And the polish people insist on stuffing Paczki down your throat on fat tuesday. People like to recognize their personal diversity. It is really not a big deal and one should be proud of where they come from as well as what their future holds. I want to know why people feel the need to be so judgemental about others.
why not ??... we love our country... we hate our politicians that's all... yeaah life its better in USA... but we`re still Mexicans and will die like Mexicans that's just the way it is.. if you lived in another country for the reason that you want.. you will still missed the land that saw you grew...
Same reason blacks are proud of Africa (and Africa is the ones that sold them to us...)

It is still okay to be proud of your heritage, it does not mean you like the government there or certain parts of the history of the place you came from.

All countries have some bad things in the past history. The best thing to do is move on and be thankful of where you come from or else you would not be here.
