Why can't the U.S. have an mandatory I.D to clarify who is who?
Answer:
oh you must not pay very much attention...its called real ID and the Department of Homeland is seeing this through. It will take 5 yrs for everyone in the US to have one, but it will cost a pretty penny! there's states opposing this b/c it will cause the states alot of money and ppl are required to present their ss card, birth certificates, and some other paperwork to verify their identity
thats what your passport is.
Because that is too much. What will be next? People will be required to show their birth certificates to buy a sandwich at McDonalds.
A lot of people would argue we do already with the real ID act. I wouldn't care one way or the other. It's not gonna stop the flood of illegals and sticks you with another way the government can keep track of you. But like I said, I don't care one way or the other.
Social Security card along with a driver's license and/or passport. But, mandatory ID? Might as well take it one step further and place micro-chips in everyone's head. Do you really want your government monitoring you THAT closely?
THE ACLU WILL NOT ALLOW IT! They a democrats who stand up for terrorism! GANG CRIME is defended by them ,as freedom of expression!
they know to much about us already.
It's not that people can't; it's that people are afraid of the privacy and freedom issues. But what some seem to forget is that they already do have a federal I.D. It's our Social Security Card. I can remember from many a year ago how proud I was when my mother gave mine to me so that I could be like the grownups and go to work legally.
Kinda like a bar code on the can of soup you buy at the store? If Hillery Clinton gets in office she wants to put a chip in our hands. Just like they do in pure breed animals. NO THANK YOU.
They steal all ID that would be just another 1.
We have both the technology and the brains. The National ID and REAL ID Act (Passed in May 2005 - 100-0). They're currently working out the issues and it will go into effect within the next 5 years. It uses radio frequency identification.
I have no idea why EVERYBODY isn't aware of this.
It might cause more harm than good.
Why so the Citizens of this Country will carry their I.D.'s and the illegals will forge theirs?
Why should the U.S. Citizens be forced to prove any thing, it is the illegals who are breaking the law?
Anyway you try to say it will be a resolution, I guarentee there is an illegal or an illegal supporter who will help them forge any source of documentation that you may suggest.
The point is the illegals are illegals, are you suggesting they have a mandatory illegal I.D.?
How about the illegals just leave and go back to their homelands, that would solve our problems, immediately!
You mean like a State issued drivers license? Oh wait, those can be illegally obtained with any information you need.
We did. Social security card....drivers license. That's why now they want the real ID card. Problem is as fast as technology advances....someone out there finds a way around it. For every intelligent person there's a smarter criminal finding a way around it. There is no 100% PERFECT way. It won't matter how advanced we get......there will always be a flaw for someone to tap into. So there's always going to have to be some form of enforcement. It was so much easier when a mans word was his bond. They had some high tech deal in the European passport or something. Barely got the last one out before they found a way around it.........there's always someone smarter........and it's usually a criminal.
Because it creates power for the government to implement more provisions that remove rights and priveledges to people who don't carry the ID. For example: one provision already says you can't fly on an airplane if you don't have one. They can easily add: you can't work if you don't have one. Or that you can't use the highways, and eventually, you can't buy anything without one.
Which is why it shouldn't be enacted because it creates undeniable power for the government.
Hmm like a dog tag that you could wear around your neck? And big brother could decide if you could go out without your leash on. When will America's realize they are losing their freedom's? I am sorry sorry for what happened on 911 it was awful I know people who have friends and family that were in the building and I remember the fear the day it happened(I worked in a place with over 32 different languages and people from around the world). It really is time to live again the people who passed wouldn't have wanted you to give up your freedoms. The initial tragedy was awful but, to continue to live in fear is more tragic in September it will have been 6 years. It is time to bounce back and be strong that would be truly Inspirational to live in fear with cards for Id and being watched over by big brother is very McCarthy. why go back forge ahead. By the way having the government control where you live work and what you buy has a name.....its Communism and isn't that just a stones throw from a Dictatorship.
I think it's a good idea. I have no problem with it and it it is tamper-proof, so the ILLEGAL alien criminals can't buy one in a neighborhood park for $20, we can know who is suppose to be here.
No, that would be logical. ACLU-types think that would be worse than the system we have now, which is just a welter of state and local ID cards that do exactly the same thing, but why centralize it? That would just cut down on fraud, and then their beloved illegals might get caught. Then there are cretins in the religious right who believe it would be a "mark of the beast", and they always take it out to ridiculous extremes of microchip implants or barcodes on your forehead.
