I think it's a no win situation for us and a win win situation for them.
1. They are trashy criminal parasites who don't give a crap about the fact that there are other poor people from other countries who want to move to the USA who are patiently waiting their turn.
2. The attempt to make them legal was an effort by a team of hippie politicians and special interest groups including La Raza. Luckily, the amnesty bill IS NOW HISTORY.
i think illegal immigration is wrong...but if they have come here illegally and they're not doin n e thin wrong y send them bac or put them in prisons...i think wut the government is doin is stupid and i also think that if they can let british and canadians and other people in US be here illegally y cant they let them be here...they're not hurtin us and we have more than enough space...
I'm against illegal immigration as much as anyone. I came here from Scotland LEGALLY and have worked my butt off for many years to stay legal. I've spent countless hours in the USCIS offices and spent thousands of dollars in fees for the paperwork and for an immigration lawyer. The ones who are here illegally make a mockery of the ones who have done it properly and right. It outrages me that a huge percentage of illegal immigrants can find employment, and no-one would look at me until I had a SS#. I challenge anyone to find someone who is more against the Immigration Reform Bill and illegal immigration than the LEGAL immigrants themselves.
I like the ideal let them here,let them be legal & get money for the country.It will end up being a good thing.

I think if people are taking it all overboard. If it weren't for immigration 90% of the US's population would be there because all our families moved from other coutries to make the US. I think they should be allowed to be citizens...

All illegals should be thrown the hell out. Reform to make them legal is illegal according to current laws, don't need any more overlooked laws on the books.
The reason Americans are against illegal immigration is because we can't budget for schools or hospitals and other services, both of which are failing our own people in areas where illegal immigrants concentrate in large numbers. Our Senate responded by bringing up a 400 page bill with a 300+ amendment addressing hospitals and education in MEXICO and doubling legal immigration here, as well as giving just a promise to stop the problem going forward. It would have been the coup de grace to our schools and our children's educations.
It was a bad bill. Any bill that will pass will have to address impacts HERE.
They need to be returned to their home country.
I think that the reported numbers of illegal immigrants is far too high. It is really more of a fan to the fire of public opinion. While many people are unemployed or underemployed in the U.S. it is not the fault of illegal immigrants. There are not nearly as many out of work Americans because of illegals taht will work cheaper than is paraded before us. The objective of the entire immigration debate is to shift attention away from the real crooks in our country, the corporate giants that are steadily growing their own fortunes at the expense of the rest.
I think the politicians who want to make them legal are committing treason to the USA Constitution and going against what they were sent to Congress for.
They will not get my vote in the next election.
i think they are being judged too harshly so yeah some are no good. but whats the sin for the rest of the illegals? yeah yeah being illegal.
i think the logical solution was to pass a reform for the people who have been here for more then 5 years, paid taxes,and have no criminal record. then secure the borders and put more law enforcement. then we'd all win. but some people here just want it their way. deport deport deport. some people have been here for almost 20 years and i don't see how they can just leave.

Secure the borders first then investigate the ones that are here. The good ones should have a path to citizenship after meeting the criteria. Those with criminal records get deported
I think it is a load of crap to just make them legal. The government needs to secure the border then deal with the illegals.
The people that are productive and hard working should be charged with a misdemeanor crime and fined, forced to pay back taxes, then given the ability to pursue citizenship. Those that do not want to become citizens should also be charged with a crime and fined, pay taxes and give a work visa then forced to return home after 5 years with the ability to return for work after 2 years under a guest worker program.
A real guest worker program must be established and that children born to guest workers are NOT U.S. citizens.
Any illegals that have a criminal record or become suspects due to fingerprint matching should be tried for the crime if the evidence permits or deported and barred from future entry.
There isn't such a thing as an illegal immigrant because immigration, done correctly, is a LEGAL process, ergo illegal immigrant is a contradiction in terms. What we have are 20 million criminal invaders.
The political 'reform' is nothing more than the two parties who have been in power for so long are realizing that there are some real alternatives now and are attempting to pander to a new group of ppl to stay in power. It has been said that power is more addicting than sex, money or drugs and I believe that Congress is full of examples of that.
I do not want them here and I do not think they should jump the line and be able to stay. Just because they broke the law to get here, does that mean they have the right to stay? No, that's rewarding them. Send them back and let them get in line!!
I think any law enforcement officials who are unwilling to enforce the law should be prosecuted and I include legislators in that group.
If caught, illegal aliens need to be sent to a work camp until they can earn enough money to pay the cost of plane fare for us to ship them back to the capital city of whatever country they came from and dump them off on their own governments.
I think the bill would not have made a difference because it did not really reform the laws we have now. It was only going to take away the part about if the person has been deported that they can never get a green card.
The new bill was going to grant them citizenship ONLY AFTER they paid the fine and went back home and reapplied and waited. Which was all they would have had to do in the first place.
The people of the US would be paying for all the large fines in the end because the illegals would claim they don't make enough money and it would have been like another welfare thing.
The new bill also was going to limit the sponsership to spouses and children only. So it was bad news for the illegals as well as the US citizens.
So good riddance to the shamnesty bill, I say.
