Was it do divert attention from something he wanted to slip under the radar?
Was it to gauge the reaction to illegal immigrants or by illegal immigrants.
Or is Dubbya really just a dolt without a clue?
My opinion is he is smarter than many people give him credit for.

I think he was using it to sneak in steps towards a NAU.
I think he never had any real intention of securing the border.
We need to keep him and all elected officials under a close scrutiny.
I think he is sneaky like a weasel.
While I don't think that W is all that smart.I mean really have you heard him speak?
However, this was a huge issue. Now the American people have to get on the gov asss again to enforce our laws.

He is working with bin laden on something probabley,he probabley is gonna help them attack us again.Like before when he knew about the attack but did nothing.That is a very bad president he is just like that Rock O'Bama guy ( i know that isn't his name but i don't care) They will run america into the toilet like it has been there already many times since he has been president.
No, I think there was other things in there, the $5000 fine, and such, that he thought he could get enough people to buy in. So I don't think it was a ruse.
The problem is, it isn't possible to deport them all. How many are there, like 12 million or something?
Even if you spread the deportation program over a 5 year period, that would be the equivalent of deporting around 7000 every day, WITHOUT letting any new ones in.
That's just not going to happen.
So, what is the solution? I mean, I'm not a big Bush fan, but ignoring them isn't the answer, deporting them won't work...what is the solution?
I certainly believe that him pushing this bill so hard, and alienating his few remaining supporters, was a major mistake.
Of the four combinations available, I think the position that we should continue in Iraq AND throw the borders open even wider would have the LOWEST number of adherents.
After all the facts are examined , we can only conclude,this was payment for the Democrats approval of the
Troop Funding Bill. Unless you didn't notice, it was passed,
without the Huge Fight the Democrats had promised.
He wanted it to pass. He had stuffed the boilerplate with all sorts of things he wanted, like color of congressional approval for his unconstitutionally unratified treaty called the Security and Prosperity Partnership and executive discretion in dealing with aliens that on the one hand reassured those wanting enforcement not at all (since illegal immigration is not something he wants to enforce against) and on the other hand had echoes of the patriot act issues in it.
I don't listen to talk radio, but I absolutely opposed that bill.
Actually, I think he needed it to pass to enact much bigger things.

No one know whats really going on with this immigration bill, this bill will come back on the calendar before the 2008 elections and passed, and there will be an amnesty. There will be no borders getting secure.Remember there will be a North American Union. So people who rejoicing this bill fail how long can you rejoice for.Right now illegals and cheap labourers are needed in this country because this country will not survive without them, because a lot of lazy Americans not doing jobs like planting and stuff like what these people do. Right now people do not want to open their eyes because a lot of things are sucking this country economy nobody have no time with the voice of American people calling radio or congress it is what best for this country.So please citizens start to prepare for this Amnesty, and North American Union stepping up the way.Remeber no presidental elections coming up can stop this bill wait and see.
That's what I was trying to say. I feel really sad for these anti-illegals becuase they were so into this topic (all the hate) and they seemed to aviod the REAL problem for this country, the WAR.
So what`s your therory about the 1994 , 1997 , 1998 , & 2000 Illegal Amnesty Bills that were passed by Ted Kennedy while Bill Clinton was in office ?? I can only imagine how much time you spent here pouring out your dissatifaction and outrage when the Clinton / Gore team was in charge ? I think you don`t know your history , which is why your " talking points" question reminds me that you have spent a great deal of your time listening to CNN or reading The NY Crimes newspaper !!
