Can you Identify and describe three obstacles that settlers faced as they moved westward?
Answer:
starvation, attacks from hostile native tribes, and bad weather.
Indians attacked and killed them in defense of their land and way of life.
Disease killed many due to the difficulty of travel, lack of hygiene, and bad nutrition.
Sorry, that's only two. Maybe someone else will give you a third.
Hostile natives
Bears
Harsh weather
1) Native Americans- settlers were attacked and robbed by the natives on the way, some were killed
2) Disease- there were bouts of many contagious and fatal diseases while traveling, so many settlers died
3) Mountains- the Rockies were a natural barrier between California and the rest of the US, and many people died crossing them.
Yes I can.
As settlers moved West the three major obstacles they faced were, Native hostility, Food/Water(sustenance) source/preservation, and transportation supply concerns.(wagon wheels, medicine, horseshoes, and the like)
Native hostility: The Settlers were "invading" native land and cutting down there forests and planting crops and destroying the Native livelihood, so they attacked(some relentlessly) until they would leave or one wiped out the other.
Sustenance: They had to hunt and forage for food as there was no time to grow crops until they chose a place to settle.
Transportation: They generally had to have spare parts for wagons and horses and the like. They also had to keep herbal remedies and medicines around and stored to keep everyone healthy.
I hope this helps, just enough to point youi in the right direction at least. :)
