Nice try......
An Immigrant is: A person or person's who travel to another country, lingering between other's.. A Migrant: is a bird who travel's with other bird's to other countries... Do I get the 10 point's now? Just kidding! Hahaha!!! Smile!!!
an immigrant is moving from his country to another country for mostly for permanent.
a migrant is someone mostly out looking for work in a another country.
My understanding in the way these terms are used is that folks who come into an area, mostly for work and do that work for a limited period of time and then leave to go back to there homes when the season or work is finished.
That is a Migrant.
That Migrant becomes and Immigrant when they stay without leaving and intend to make the work area they were temporary in a permanent living situation for themselves.
They are ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS when they come as legal migrants and DO NOT apply for legal citizenship or visa entry into the country they have migrated/immigrated to.
IT is hard to police this kinda stuff and many, many illegal folks from all over the world are currently here in violation of immigrant laws and proper legal entry.
Apparently most of these in the USA are Mexicanos. Supposedly 8 of 10 ILLEGALs are of this ilk.
It's interesting that President Bush now uses "migration" in speeches instead of immigration. Not really a difference in definition but migration is a softer term, I think.
Look at the terminology: Migration, Immigration, Emigration.

To migrate is to move from one place (in this case a country) to another.

To Emigrate is to leave a country.

To Immigrate is to come into a country.

Hope that clears it up.
Lip pretty much got it.
An immigrant is a person that comes here LEGALLY and is working to become a citizen.

A migrant is someone that is here temporarily and isn't becoming a citizen. They might be legally (farm worker) or they could be ILLEGAL and therefore a criminal.
