You can come over very pregnant, deliver your child (which is now an American). Then it's very hard to send the mother back because of all the bad press of making parents leave their children behind. It almost never happens.

I wish you were right, but you aren't. Anchor babies need not be conceived here. The laws should be changed that you are not automatically a US citizen if your parents are illegal. It will never happen though.

"They" sap hospitals and governments of millions upon millions of dollars each and every year because of the drain on the medical services they are allowed to recieve, never mind the free foodstamps, section 8, etc... all because they dropped a kid over here. Who exactly do you think pays for these free programs? Mother Goose?

It is legal according to the 14th Amendment which was to clarify the citizenship status of slaves after the Civil War. This is clearly out of date, but it is hard to get Congress to get anythikng done to change something everyone agrees is not a good thing.

Well I have a friend who is chinese who had her 2nd kid here because in china you can only have 1. The kid now has citizenship in both the USA and china. It is legal.

1. Amend our laws so a child born on US soil is not a citizen unless at least 1 parent is a legal US citizen
2. Enforce our border laws.
3. Refuse medical service to illegals
Under the CORRECT interpretation of the 14th amendment,people born In the United States are supposed to be under the jurisdiction of this country when born here. This amendment to the constitution has been convienently mis-interpreted by our own government,and this needs to be addressed. Please refer to the 14th amendment of our constitution.. Obviously If someone comes here illegally they are subject to their own countries laws. Since an illegal Is NOT subject to our jurisdiction,their child should NOT be a legal citizen.
Yes, they can do that, I don't think there is anythiong we can do to prevent that, because America can't deny medicare for anyone, it's sad, I know.

I grew up in Texas and this is a very common thing for Mexican women to come over to Texas and give birth to a baby so it will be an American citizen. It happens everyday. It's also sad because many or the majority of these women can not and do not get any kind of pre-natal care in Mexico, they are mostly poor. I doubt if anything is ever going to be done about it. It cost us millions but you can't let a women give birth in a parking lot and not help her or her child, there is just too many things that can go wrong and you can not deny a child a right to be born and make sure the baby and mother get the proper care they need.
No--the current law is that anyone born here is a legal citizen. However, when they wrote this law, they assumed the child would be born of legal immigrants and wanted to just make it easier so that the parents would not have to go through the whole process with their child.
Leave it to criminals to find a way to break a law and get their way. No one could say anything when pregnant people come here and have the baby.
But you know what? That mother and father can still be deported and the US can make that child stay here.
That is why I think some of these people are the worst type of people to use their unborn child for their benefit. They figure they will get to stay if they have a child here and that is simply not true. I guess they don't care what the consequences can be, they want what they want.
