What's the wait time like for obtaining entry clearance to the UK as a spouse of a UK citizen?

Is it as long of a wait time as it is for a UK citizen to obtain a K-3 VISA to the US? Anyone have experience with this?

My husband and I have had this experience.
I am English and he is a Texan. We married in Houston.

If you hand deliver your application to the Embassy (in Chicago, NY or LA) providing you hand it in before 9.30am and your paperwork is all in order, you can collect it the same day after 4.30pm

This is what my husband did in Chicago. He flew to the UK the following day.
