Their rights are more limited. Court rulings and federal law have granted undocumented aliens the right to
* receive medicaid in case of emergency
* attend public school
* some welfare benefits
* legal representation if prosecuted for a crime
Schools are not allowed to ask a person's immigration status. Neither are hospitals in the case of an emergency.

Several years ago the argument could be made that the impact of immigration on social service providers was a financial burden. However with the welfare reforms of 1996, this objection has not only melted away, it has actually provided some ammunition for the opposition. Undocumented workers in the United States, approximately 3,000,00 of them, pay U.S., state and local taxes both as workers and consumers. They also have social security taxes deducted from their payroll checks, and recover none of the benefits from these payments.
Many Mexican workers return home after a season or two in the fields. The funds taken out of their paychecks by employers ends up in he U.S. Treasury, not in the pockets of these workers. Of those workers who remain, none are eligible to secure unemployment compensation, SSI, or social security retirement, because they are not legal residents. Much is made of the fact the children of these workers use our schools and our emergency medical services and a dollar cost is usually fixed to determine that. However, I have yet to see the dollar value of the payroll taxes, sales taxes, and social security payments of these 3 million undocumented workers, deducted from this figure, which would give us a real social cost (or profit which is more likely) to our nation.

Well since you are as well not any better than anyone else such as the dogs and other animals that the humane society protects .Why worry about something as minute as humans regardless of the incomes that many(including myself) contribute to? You need an attitude make over rather mental. Just train yourself to think that your part goes to your favorite charities!
Must the US government treat the illegals like 4 year olds! I do understand the care in case of emergency - but not to receive medicaid, they should pay for it just like everyone else in the US who doesn't have medical insurance.
Schools are overcrowded due to illegal immigrants alone (proven). As for the welfare benefits and legal representation, they should have thought about how they will provide for themselves before they decided to come to this country illegally.
Gee whiz, did you just find this out? We have been complaining about this for many years. Actually, in Sanctuary Cities illegal aliens have more rights than citizens. They are protected! The babies born to Latinos and Hispanics constituted over 55% of the births in the USA in 2006 and over half of those births were paid for by U.S. Citizens for children born to illegal aliens. In the news regarding the new immigration bill -- the workplace enforcement portion says "Employers must verify workers' eligibility to work here legally using a government database within 18 months for new hires and three years for existing employees." "Within 18 months"? How many of the employers will simply employ illegal aliens for one year or 15 months and then just ignore the check eligibility portion by sending these illegals on to another employer so the US employers can avoid compliance? Talk about loopholes in the law and a real lack of desire to enforce our laws and treason!

Only 12 terrorists out of a suspected 814,073 suspected terrorists in the USA were deported from 2004 - 2006 according to an Associated Press report in yesterday's newspaper. This despite the statement by Michael Chertoff, Director of Homeland Security, that the government's main goal is to go after terrorists, not the maids and and farm workers and pizza delivery people. There is a huge processing backlog of law-abiding people who have been trying to become U.S. Citizens so the true image of immigration in the USA is that the government doesn't really care about it at all.
U.S. Citizen truck drivers must hold a valid commercial driver's license with 10 years of driving history. U.S. Citizen truck drivers are required to be drug and alcohol tested and to follow hours of service regulations for driving time. Mexico has no such requirements, yet the U.S. Government is about to permit Mexican Truck Drivers to drive into the United States completely across the country if they want. Less than 4 percent of the trucks entering the USA from Mexico are inspected today and yet USDOT expects us to believe that 100% of these Mexican trucks with Mexican or possibly even terrorist drivers, will be inspected. So, you see, it doesn't pay to be a law-abiding U.S. Citizen or a Legal Immigrant.
According to another article in our local newspapers, our most important resources and our most vulnerable terrorist targets are being protected by ill-trained private security forces like Wackenhut and Wells Fargo et. al. Now, remember, this isn't me saying this -- this is as reported in our local newspaper.
However a really great report -- a comic done by LaRay Wright of the Detroit News shows a boat holding two people and a case of beer fishing. I guess it can be seen at caglecartoons.com. But the comment section of the comic states: " ..This Part of the Immigration Bill where it would allow guest workers to come in and do work no American is willing to do...Wouldn't that make them eligible for our jobs?"
Another one by Ed Stein '07 Rocky MTN. News -Nea shows two coiled snakes, one with a donkey head and one with an elephant head facing what appears to be a Mexican wearing a shirt that says "Immigration Bill" trying to walk between the two snakes. I guess those two comics about sums it up doesn't it?
