Does divorce revoke a green card?
If we divorce, does this change my status, or can I remain as a resident alien?
Answer:
Seems like you applied, but not received. Thats a tough situation, most likely you will be removed, unless you prove abuse from your wife (difficult to do for a male).
You need to clarify your status, why it took so many years for processing, and other relevant info.
It could be revoked the circumstances under which it was granted no longer exist.
If you already have received your greencard, I believe it does not affect your resident status. But there are restrictions if you have not received it yet. Please email me with further details, and I can get the answer for you! My friend from India went through this same situation. Plus my ex husband and I were also dealing with the INS regarding his citizenship...
it depends on how long u have had it and if u have children with her and a steady job in this country. i was married to an american for 17 yrs, we have 3 kids and i am still here, specially since he won't let me leave the country with our underage kids, and i also hold down a steady job. so check with the INS if u r not sure, check with employer if they would work with u on visa for job purpose but if u have children u r safe, i just got mine renewed
If they have already approved your green card, perhaps. You have to be married a certain length of time (3 years, I believe) before a divorce doesn't automatically cause a review of your status.
If you can prove that you've maintained a job & residence, paid taxes, etc, a divorce shouldn't cause you to lose your status. They look at everything in the case.
If you still have the two-year conditional green card, divorce can be a problem. However, if you have a ten-year card you are a permanent resident and will not lose your residency if you divorce. Here is a source for more information:

PS - why is everyone writing about INS? It hasn't existed for five years.
