I am an experienced web designer from the United States and am interested in moving to Canada, either Ottawa or Toronto. I have done all the research on imigration laws and such as well as the skilled workers program. However I am having a hard time finding work from sites like monster and careerbuilder. Are there canadian sites where I can find work? Like what Monster would be to Americans, Monster Canada does not seem to have many postings.
I was also wondering if anyone knows how long it is to become a permenant resident so I can go into the skilled worker program? Like all the paperwork and such, I cant exactly give up my job here before I move and have a job there.
Any information you may have on working in Canada as an imigrant would be very helpful. Thank you.

There are many skilled jobs, especially in the Ottawa Kanata area, you could try referrals from the Ottawa City site, or with manpower.ca

There are not that many skilled jobs in Canada, esp tech jobs. You might want to consider UK's HSMP
