I'm colombian(living in london), i asked for schengen visa,they can restricted me to go to france only?

i went to my appoinment, and the lady in the counter, told me that i can only travel to france and no other schengen states. it's that thrue? if they will aprove me the visa i think that i can travel to other countries,,,, my question is if they can write me some kind of restriction in my passport wich say you can only travel to france in the fact i will travel to italy for example., i don't want to be put in an airplane back to london where i am living in this moment.
