Well I'm not sure about Canada but in the U.S. it is fairly simple , just like applying for any other job..
1st get a Federal job application(at your local job service office), fill out the entire application except for the job code you are applying for, make about 10 or so copies of your application. Review the Federal job postings. Any jobs you want to apply for put the job code on the space provided on the 1st page of your application, repeat this process for all jobs you are interested in applying for. Make sure you leave yourself 1 copy with the job code blank, so you can make more copies for future job post listings, turn in the job applications you already put job post codes on.
This is the easiest way to apply for multiple job listings, the application is a few pages long, you will be able to apply for more postings in less time.
You will be notified by mail or phone if your application has been accepted for review.
That is how I got my 1st Govt job, Good Luck.
Also, you don't have to be born here or know someone special, all you have to do is have legal status and apply.
