that is false I do not think that he is racist. I do think perhaps that some may not appreciate being compared to a rat but he is a cartoon character and I grew up with him and liked him. They don't think it is a racist depiction. "Mexican" is not a race, it is a nationality. However, there are some who think Speedy Gonzales demeans Mexicans. Its humor relies on stereotypes, and stereotypes generally cut a bit close to the bone for the likes of most people who are on the receiving end of such generalities.

Actually, Speedy Gonzalez is a beloved character in Mexico, one of the favorites among the Looney Toons ensemble. It's the latino population here that sees Speedy as a racist symbol. The Taco Bell chihuaha is also seen as an attack on their culture. I don't see either one as a negative figure, but I'm a white male American so what do I know about what is offensive to them? But it makes me wonder why Mexicans in Mexico don't find it offensive and Mexicans here do. Perhaps it's because in Mexico they don't experience the daily intolerance towards them that Mexicans here do, and therefore don't see Speedy as a symbol of that intolerance. But, once again, what do I know?

Oh geez. My parents are Mexican, and I don't think Speedy Gonzales is racist at all. I think he's really cute and funny. Those Chicanos are really stupid and should be doing other things to help out their fellow Mexican brothers and sisters than picking on a defenseless cartoon mouse.
