If you hold US dual citizenship, can you still seek the protection of your mother country?

My girlfriend just became a citizen of the US. She also holds citizenship in her homeland of Switzerland. Though it is highly unlikely in her case, but in general, can a naturalized US citizen seek the protection of their mother countries embassy or consulate while living in the US and holding dual citizenship?

Yes, if you are IN your mother country. If you're in this country, your butt belongs to homeland security.
I think that the US has done away with that prospect and that a person has to choose to be a US citizen or another country.
if the person is holding a dual citizenship and not a single citizenship with the US, then yes they can seek protection if needed in either country, as long as they have citizenship in both countries.
I would suggest you pick one or the other. Maybe only half of the protection since one is only half a citizen. The other half is in another country.
Yes you can. You are still FULL citizen of your mother country with all your rights. It is the good thing about dual citizenship.

Are you sure she didn't surrender her Swiss citizenship, I thought the US required that to become a US citizen.

If she just became a naturalized citizen of the US, she has given up all other citizenships. Sorry!
NO, Switzerland can't help her out. while in US due to the fact, she a US Citizen now.
