Don't you think it's because of jealousy why Americans complain about immgrants?
I was born in the United States, but all of my families are from different countries, such as England, Canada, Cuba and Jamaica.
They all decided to join the United States to ameliorate their lives, since America wage is excessive in their countries. Synonymously, $1 USD is $65 Jamaican dollars. Most Jamaicans work less than 50K a month, which would be less than $800 USD a month. When a Jamaican gets 50K a month, he/she is considered lucky, because most people get 20K a month in Jamaican money.
Most Americans dislike immigrants for the followings:
Immigrants make it harder for them to find jobs.
Immigrants are working more money than them.
Immigrants often own their own house (s)
Immigrants cause violance, as if Americans don't.
The list continues.

I agree with a lot of the other answers. We, are not by any means jealous of immigrants. Why would we be? We have what they have to come here to get already. We don't like the ones who come into our Country illegally and take our Social Security money and jobs from legal citizens who need them. If you have to sneak into a country it is not right. You should also have to pay taxes like we do, which not all do. There are many aspects you are not looking at. You can't clump all Americans, or immigrants for that matter into one group. Look at all the problems we are having now with Chinese products, poisoning our people. This gives people bad impressions of others who don't grow up here naturally. You can have your opinions as all of us can. If you relatives came here legally and work hard, there is nothing wrong with that. Those are not the types of immigrants we get infuriated with. Your people are paying there own way and are entitled to whatever they can get and make a good lives for their selves here. Just don't abuse our privileges here, being the Land of the free and all. Respect, Hard Work and Honesty is not too much to ask for.
they shouldn't complain cuz they take the jobs others won't take. Like picking strawberries and cleaning restrooms all day, who's gonna do that crap! What American is gonna pick veggies in the hot sun all day for $100 a week?? Maybe even less!

ultimately, if americans as a people have an issue with immigrants, its because their customs are different from ours, not because of their intelligence or wealth.. afterall its human nature to hate what is different..

I personally have no problem and am not jealous of a legal immigrant who came to the U.S. and did good. Good for them.

I'm jealous that they get free medical, education and benefits when I have to pay for me and them. Your people assimilated, the ones I see, want us to change for them and give them all the benefits of what this country has without any com-premise.

Fist off, I don't give a rat's *** if people come here to better themselves. Good for you. What I (and I believe most american's complain about), are the mexican's who come here and pop out kid after kid and then don't pay the bill. My healthcare premiums and copays are raised because of these aholes! Secondly mexican's come over here waiving their flag and disrespecting the American flag. I would love nothing more than to piss on there flag! Here is another example. These people get on welfare. But, they have brandnew SUV's and trucks. Why do they need welfare when they can afford their vehicles?

I am far from jealous of the illegals. My father was a LEGAL immigrant, and I am proud of him. I just think we don't need to reward people who broke the law to come here. We have no clue as to who they are, what they are doing, or what they have done. We need border security, and I support that even if it offends the illegals and their supporters. The best way into this country is from the south border. That is the route I would use if were a terrorist. So as a law abiding citizen, I support border control. Even if it offends the sensibilities of people who broke the law to get here. We call those people criminals. Am I jealous of criminals? Nope. I could easily stay in this country and become a criminal. But I don't. I don't admire them or feel jealous of them.
I don't have a problem with immigrants living here as long as they respect living here. Do not run away from your country and then come over here to hold OUR flag upside down like you fought for it or something. They need to learn to speak english, and teach their children too, ther kids are holding our kids back, because we have to lower the standards for their immigrant kids to hopefully pass the test. The immigrants need to pay their taxes for the crappy jobs they choose to take. Most definately I am not jealous of their jobs, that is why I hire them to do my dirty work, but I make darn sure they pay taxes. And yes, they do own their own house, and that is good especially since only 4 or 5 families SHARE it.
We are through complaining, we are doing something about the problem. The discussion has never been about immigrants but illegals.
Almost everyone in this great country of OURS can lay claim to being from immigrant stock. The point is that our forefathers and -mothers did it the right way, AND DIDN'T SNEAK INTO THIS COUNTRY.
Do things legally, contribute to our society, and we'll call you what you are; AMERICAN.
Do it the wrong way, we'll call you what you are as well; CRIMINAL.

Americans aren't jealous of immigrants. In fact, they are usually proud of their own heritage. Americans have a strong sense ,however , of rules--of right/wrong, of due process etc.
They RESENT illegal aliens. Due to the rule breaking. They feel that illegal aliens are the epitome of "breaking in line" , of trying to "jump the turnstill", crash the gate without paying, etc. THey think it is cheating and it ticks them off.
Then compound it with the costs associated with illegal immigraiton that is NOT offset by contributions into the infrastructure (eg, illegals do not pay their share of taxes)--and soon the Americans are downright irate.
I'm getting really really close to being livid myself.

Americans welcome people who come here LEGALLY and try to make a good mark in America. Someone who contributes to the country. We welcome people who want to obey the laws.
We do not appreciate people who come here and think they are all that and a bag of chips just because the are from a particular country.
