What is the cost of the new immigration proposal?

Totally apart from overcrowding of schools and hospitals, what is the dollar cost?

"Conservative Heritage Foundation President Robert Rector estimates the total cost of the bill to be in the trillions of dollars, warning, "This $2.5 trillion cost is going to come smashing into the Social Security and Medicare systems at exactly the point those systems are already going bankrupt. So the bottom line is that these individuals will make no net contribution in taxes while they are working. They will be a deficit. But when they hit retirement, they will be an astonishing cost on the taxpayer.".

The price tag for this bill is expected to be extremely high, but sources told FOX News that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office will not have an estimate ready until after Memorial Day, something that could fracture the bill's already fragile support.

Answer:
the price is too high thats how much !!! so do you think they will play by the new rules pay their fees and have the head of house hold return meanwhile they will be bringing thousands more in for jobs
crazy logic if you ask me !
I think that EVERYONE that is involved in this "immigration reform" needs to be thrown the hell out of office.

The American people do not want this.

ONLY BIG BUSINESS!!!
This will bankrupt America Wendy O! You do not reward lawbreakers with their objective! If I rob a bank and plan to give back to the community by making donations to charity does that make it right! Wendy O you sound like a fool and I dont think you relize it.
no matter what the cost of the bill will be , do you people not understand that once the illegals come out of the dark and have "papers" they will pay more taxes and be able to buy haouses and land ect... so they will be giving back and if they become legal their families will more than likely be able to come here and so they wont be sending there money back home!!! come on people its not such a bad thing , be greatful you are an american and dont have to fight to have the american dream !!
we are flushing the country down the toilet with this political correctness and courtesy toward those who dont show us any courtesy

do the math..unskilled people(janitors, maids, gangbangers) breed profusely..making more janitors, maids, gangbangers..who make more janitors, maids and gangbangers..it couldnt be good for the country
Another area that people seem to over look is that our Welfare system is for the working poor and a large majority of the illegal aliens would instantly become "the working poor" and LEGALLY entitled to assistance. What will that cost the taxpayers? I shudder to think... 12 million PLUS family members.

Yes some will pay taxes, but will also be entitled to all deductions that we afford the working poor (Earned Income Credits) and when tax refund time rolls around with tax laws being what they are, some of the illegal immigrants (well new citizen) will not pay any federal tax and paying very little to SS or MED.
I honestly don't think the price tag matters at all. The US gov't seems to have money to burn, especially with this whole Iraq business, so whats another $2.5 trillion. We can just tack it onto the national debt which we will never repay.

However, if people want to enforce the immigration laws and secure the border its going to cost money. So, its either pony up the costs or let illegal immigration continue to run rampant.

As for social security I don't see how this bill relates to that at all. Its not like that system isn't doomed already.
Hey Dar, here's the deal,

1. Low wage workers are invited here to work and pay taxes and not receive anything in return. However, still contributing to the system to build schools, hospitals, and of course keep those border patrol agents in the border with their hard earned low pay wage.

2. It is a fact no matter how much people go around it that Americans will never do the work these people do.

3.They contribute to more than what they cost again by paying taxes, keeping a low deficit (keeping companies here in the states), fighting in wars overseas, rebuilding cities here in America from natural disasters, etc.

I could be here writing all the good things outweighing the bad ones. One thing is for sure, all consumers including you and me, are benefiting from lower labor costs from jobs that are being kept here not in other countries abroad.
BILLIONS but it seems nobody cares..american... are to passive. I f we dont care about our country who will..do we need people who have NO REGARD for laws here.they dont even want to speack english...does that sound sick to you...
Honestly. I don't think this bill is gonna make it. It's facing rising opposition from even the pro-amnesty groups. Americans have simply had enough of this problem and this bill will only make it worse. We simply won't accept it.
Our children are going to pay dearly for this and the cost is far, far too dear.
