Because most of them are illegal and beggars can't be choosers. They have to take any job that they can, in fear of being deported. So why call them slave jobs, they are only slaves if forced to work that job. They choose it willingly.
Kind of high payed slaves aren't they.

Not just mexican! Any people from my country would love to come in the USA, even if they have to get pay 2$ per hr! We were all told Americans are rich, it's easy to be rich in America, or A poor in AMERICA is a rich in my country! Today, i'm in the USA, and even if things are better for me than in my country, it's not as easy as described! Cousins or relatives from my country call me all the time to ask me for money because they think i live in America, so i must make millions $ per paycheck!
AGAIN, to you its low paying jobs. To them its a JOB period and they make a living with it. They are not looking to becoming rich.

Also, because those jobs don't require that a person speak English. I have known immigrants who were engineers and doctors and other high professionals in their country, but worked as waiters, etc. here. They swallow their pride and they do what they can. They do it because they have no other choice.
because they are unskilled. it don't take much to work a weed eater. heck, my 8 year old can run one of those. and no i do not let her operate one.

And for your information Rush the people who benifit most from the illegal imigrant problem are the big buiseness owners who exploit the sweatshop labor that exists in every major city in this country.
Next time you buy your "I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free" ball cap, it might interest you to know that although it does have a made in America tag proudly put on it. It was more than likely sewed there by a Mexican lady who came here from a horribly impoversihed land looking for a better life, promised the world by a recruiter in her village who than transported her in the back of an eighteenwheeler refrigerated poultry truck to a slumlord apartment complex in las vegas, run by the same company that subcontracts for the manufacturer where she and her children live in a 500 square foot room with three other families.
There she also works 12 hours a day in a rum with 25 other women operating sewing machines with little ventalation and no airconditioning. All the while being threatened with deportation and promised with citizenship if she only works a little harder. She gets paid by the piece not the hour so she makes about 30 dollars a day after they take out the 18 dollars a day rent for staying at the only place that will rent to her with out calling the INS and having her deported she has almost enough to feed her family. She could have a lot more if she would let her 11 year old daughter do some special work for the man who runs the shop on weekends.
On September 23 2004 one such place was discovered in Los Angelas California. The owners were never prosecuted because all the witnesses were imediatly deported.
Landscaping and janitoral jobs are not slave jobs. Instead, give dignity for those who work in these categories since they have the courage to perform these jobs unlike many who are not willing and better become criminals.
Because most americans feel they are too good for this kind of work.
It's a job. It pays the bills. Maybe if more of us (and I mean U.S.) would think that way, this country would be better off. This country was built on people who did the work, not the ones who sat on the tax-payers dime complaining that they couldn't find work.
(Yes, there are plenty of U.S. citizens who can't find work, I mean the ones who intentionally sit around and refuse to work for $0.01 less than they think they should be making - you know the type).
