Do you think the US should open its doors to refugees and illegals from other countries, when...?
With all the homeless people, low income families, budget cuts and lack of resources, do you think it would be a better use of money to help these countries to develop and enable them to support themselves?
Answer:
Hi T.H.
I'm a firm believer that charity begins at home. Our politicians are not doing their jobs of enforcing the laws on illegal crossings of our border. As far as refugees, I guess that would depend on the situation. There is so much that could be done to help the poorer countries develop themselves. But the politics mess everything up.
Buy the way, do you remember me? I'm one of your fans.
In fact, I go over your answered questions, and those questions that are in voting, I always find your question and vote for you. I think you just got two best answers voted in.
Anyway, I still enjoy reading all of your answers.

yes they should
I don't know where to start.
The US does, and should, accept requests for assylum. There are some nasty places out there that people are desperately trying to escape. I mean, when a neighbor comes running out of his burning house and into your yard, you don't push him back into the burning building - even if you don't ultimately let him stay in your yard forever.
Obviously, the US shouldn't tollerate illegal immigrants, regardless of the relative costs of accomdating vs aprehending them.
Whether tax dollars really need to go to 'solving' problem like poverty, homelessness, or the like, either here or abroad is a matter for debate. There's no reason such functions couldn't be left to private cheritable organizations.
Close the borders for 5 yrs till we get this travesty back to acceptable reason.
We should allow MANY Iraqui refugees. All the citizens of Iraq were doing was minding their own business and we destroyed their country!
It is funny how we don't have enough money for "our own" but we have lots of money for killing other people in "the axis of evil".
Go figure!
Yes. There will always be homeless people and there will always be illegal aliens but there is enough money for everyone if they stop wasting money on stupid stuff like wars and useless fences.
Absolutely not.
NO!
