Is our goverment making illegal immigration more complicated then it has to be?
Answer:
YES.. JUST ENFORCE THE LAWS WE HAVE. IF WE CLOSED THE BORDER, FINED THE COMPANIES WHO HIRED THE ILLEGALS, AND DEPORTED THE CRIMINALS AND OTHER ILLEGALS.. THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM IN THIS COUNTRY. ALL OF THIS IS ALREADY A LAW.. SO JUST ENFORCE THE LAWS WE HAVE NOW
Agreed; but there are 12-15 million people here illegally. Where do you start?
We don't have an illegal immigration problem. We have an illegal EMPLOYMENT problem.
Its funny how they passed the border fence last year and they've only built 2 miles of it.They are trying to roll it in to this amnesty bill.Americans aren't that stupid.
They should give some amnesty because they work harder then some americans have ever even thought about!! There are alot of decent "illegals out there and I think if they have families here they should be given a break But that the ones coming in now should be cracked down on. People already complain about the price of things but once employers have to pay american wages more often the price of things will really go up!
They are making it more complicated then it is. There is a law that says they should not be here. Why does it need to be debated if they should be here or not be here? Plain and simple.
It isn't just a border security issue. Those borders - according to the 1986 immigration reform bill was the bargaining tool used then. But (and I haven't read it all yet) there are claims that the government restricted our other law enforcment agencies from participating in the deportation of illegals. Meaning if an illegal was stopped for a traffic violation, or such, the officers could not ask of their "legal" status in this country. Courts were issued an order to have them free of their own accord if they promised to return on their court appointed date for sentencing. Guess what?! - they didn't show for their court dates. Surprise!! Surprise!!
The BIGGER issue is (that was also in the 1986 illegal immigration reform bill) was that EMPLOYERS were to be punished by both fines and prison terms for no less than 5 years for EACH ILLEGAL THEY EMPLOYED. That hasn't happened either.

* encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or agent for an employer in any way, or
* knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions
Penalties upon conviction include criminal fines, imprisonment, and forfeiture of vehicles and real property used to commit the crime. So they have laws already - they just don't and refuse to enforce them. And any law agency should be able to start the deportation process with or without a conviction if they are illegally in US.
The Solution to our problem lies with Mexico's corruption. Our government would benefit more from Mexico's government improving itself and its economy. The minute that wages come closer to the US in Mexico the minute we no longer have an immigration problem. There is too much corruption in Mexico, and not enough enforcement in the US. People come here to work, not to be a burden on our infrastructure, there is one minority group that allready does that. If free trade is established and government handouts and programs like bilingual education were gotten rid of, then people would be forced to assimilate into the American Culture. As of now it takes 2 generations for a Mexican Illegal immigrant to assimilate into American culture and speak English with only a small understanding of Spanish as a second language. Capitalism is the natural equalizer. It is a bigger benefit to learn English in America than it is to continue to speak only Spanish. Dubai is an example of free trade in action. They use thousands of forien workers from all over Asia to do thier low paying jobs. They keep these people regulated and don't necessarily keep them as permanent residents. What occurs in America is exploitation of Illegal Immigrants that are here for work only and can be forced into bad conditions the further away from home that they are. Mexican Illigals often move here because the system is in place that allows them to do so. The majority of Illigal immigrants from Mexico are poor. The rich Mexicans don't leave Mexico. We should make it easier, cheaper, and faster to immigrate legally from Mexico, so that exploitation of Mexican workers does not happen. Also we should make Mexican Government teach thier people English and offer to help thier economy through NAFTA initiatives that enable better jobs in Mexico and cheaper consumer goods.
