1) Pay a huge fine.
2) Pass a english literacy test.
3) Stay out of trouble for 5 yrs.
4) Obtain at least a high school diploma in 5 yrs.
5) Pass a urine test.

My dear, you are correct. That is the same thing that many of us argue. Legal is ok, illegal is not. The controls are there for reasons - to protect the country, the citizens, and the legal immigrants.
First: Define "Illegal."
I think they should be immediately deported have to go to the back of the line and then pay a fine if they want to come back to the United States. Everyone keeps talking about the cost of deporting them all but they don't seem to see the cost of keeping them here.
all illegals should be sought out, arrested, and then deported. I know this would be hard to do, but it is what needs to happen to keep the integrity of the united states. But on top of that, we need to severely punish any company big or small which hires illegal aliens. punish any person who helps them out. As for the job situation and the higher cost of labor. There are many people out there who would do the jobs the illegals are doing. Also, put the welfare people to work and this will help two problems at the same time. Remember illegal is illegal!!!
deportation of every stinkin' one of them would suit me quite well thank you...seal the border as tight as a drum and throw away the key...change the fourteenth amendment so no anchor babies ...mexico's problems are for the mexicans to solve, not dump on us!
The world is overpopulated. People need to stop having babies. For all the civil rights abuses of the Chinese government, at least they are trying to do something about this. This isn't a call for abortions or anything like that, but using a condom and birth control every once-in-a-while would help. Problem is, these aren't easily obtained in third world and places like Mexico which are predominantly Catholic still frown upon such things.
That being said, we have citizenship laws for a reason and just letting everyone become a citizen seems silly. We can still treat them like people though.
Protect our borders. Then enforce our existing laws concerning those who are in this country illegally. While this is going on Congress can work on a program pertaining to guest workers.
the people that came here without inspection ( illegaly) came for a better way of life. now while it is breaking the law , they only do it because its hard to come here legally . they come because they dont have money in their country or jobs , so how would they come up with the money to get a visa to come here legally? when an immigrant from mexico applies for a visa they have to have 1) money in a bank account. 2) land and house on the land in their name . so if they had all that what would they need to come here for?? so i think we should give them a chance to make it right and if they earn it ,good , if they dont .at least we tried!!!
I think they should be citizens or at least get the green card because it's true that they are 20 people living in a 2 bedroom but maybe it is because they can not rent houses because of their illegal condition? And don't tell me that your parents came from Italy "the right way", they just came the same way like the immigrants now only that at the time the laws were different and they got legal right away, and belive me because i live in Italy, Italy is a much better place then the other countries that immigrants are coming from, so IF your parents with such a great place to live like Italy, left and asked for more, just learn to be less selfish and try to undersand the others condition! Ah, one last thing, if your parents are italian and you in were born in America, you are not american, you are an italian living in America.
