If you had a business ?

If you had a business and had to hire someone, would you be worried about hiring a Hispanic even though they had papers because the papers might be forged? What would you do to check?

Answer:
I'll hire anyone that's Legal If they didn't the Proper Documents to come here Then Call the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Services.
first of all, I do own a business and the first thing I would do is have a conversation in ENGLISH! You can pretty much tell from that point!
They have a free software that you can install to verify SSN's. So I would hire who I choose to but verify them all. Not all illegals are Hispanic.
I would not hire a hispanic, I would hire a white person. White people need work just as much as hispanics. And I wouldn't have to worry about him putting graffiti on my walls.
as long as they had the proper documents to prove that they are legal then yes i would hire them. be careful with situations like this because if you dont hire them for a wrong reason, you could get charged with a discrimination charge.
I would think in some cases it would be hard for a very small business person to make sure the papers they were showen were real, legal documents. A larger business could afford to check things out more througly. We have had small buinesses in the past and only hired people who were refered to us.
I'd want them to be 'legal', but I'd love to hire Hispanic people, Black people, Asians, Whites, whoever as long as it's legal! America is beautiful!!!
I would check myself to see if I was a racist because why else would I be assuming that his papers are forged
Since I do not own a business or the procedures for checking status I would leave that up to the business owners because it has nothing to do with me. Now if I did have a business I would find out procedures. Otherwise, I don't care, and why should you.
no.They(as well as all other new employees) are required to provide several types of ID's spelled out on the I-9 Form.Employers obligation is to ensure that the ID's appear to be genuine.Employers are prohibited from using discriminatory hiring practices by the Equal Opportunity Employment Law.To prohibit the hiring of any class of employee is strictly prohibited and subjects the employer to stiff penalties as well as civil liability.
P.S.
When we are interviewing a prospective employee, how they look is of no consequence. We look at their qualifications or their ability and desire to learn. We NEVER dis-qualify any prospective employee because someone thinks they "look" illegal.I would personally fire any of my employees for acting in that manner. My company has the strictest anti-discrimination policy in our area.People that I employ know how I feel about discrimination in the workplace and they also know the consequences(immediate termination).

You call tell by the SSN offered. Certain numbers were offered in certain years,SSN different by location too.
I would hire someone that I had no doubts about in reguard to their status.
I live in El Paso, Texas and over 80% of our "legal" residents are of hispanic descent. As an employer you are supposed to verify that a person is legal to work. The criteria for verifying this is on the I-9 Form (May have a new form number now under Department of Homeland Security), which requires multiple documents to prove citizenship and worker status.

High Quality "fake" documents aren't cheap and aren't as prevelant as you imply. The fakes typically look fake, and if the person in front of you has documents saying his name is O'Sullivan, yet he is speaking with a heavy Russian accent, I think it would be prudent to take steps to verify his documents before you actually hire him. (I use this example, because the "illegal" problem is not all hispanic, although I will concede that most are).
Nope, I do own a business and I hire people for their worth. I'm not going to hire anyone just because they are a minority. If they can't do the job, I'm not going to hire them. They would be a drain on my business and it's profits.
I HAVE a business. If I was hiring they would speak English (no heavy accent because they must be understood clearly) and MUST be legal! I don't care if they are Hispanic.

There are ways to check and when employers say they can't that is just BS!
