Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these
protests.
- Let's say I break into your house.
- Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).
According to the protesters:
- You are Required to let me stay in your house.
- You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
- You are Required to Educate my kids
- You are Required to provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

this is pretty well said. very good analogy. but these illegals dont see it that way and neither does America. they make light of the crime by saying they are hard workers. the same persistence in obtaining rights on capitol hill should be applied in their native land and then maybe they would not have to feel as though they have to illegally enter the US for a "better life". if this is the case then we should lessen the prison terms for these killers and rapists, only if they treated their victims with respect before violating them.

I think a little progress is being made. INS has been conducting raids in Houston. Yesterday they raided a Waste Management Plant and hauled in 53 undocumented workers. All are being deported back to Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador. The sad thing is, most will be right back in about two months. The Texas Border Patrol needs more reinforcement. They just don't have the manpower . Our legislature is in session right now, but heck... alll they are yapping about is taxes. Our legislature is like a Saturday Night Live skit. Our borders are so porous and vulnerable, but that really is not a # 1 priority although it gets lip service from time to time.

Secure our borders,place a 5 to 10 year moratorium on legal immigration,then begin the systematic deportation of all illegal aliens from any country.

Nicely written. And you're right. And Howard K has a point as well, its a good idea to have coverage on your homeowners insurance policy in case someone hurts themselves on or in your property. This is another good reason ppl should always verify that when they hire a contractor for their residence he/she has workers compensation insurance. And if the business owner does in fact run a legitimate operation providing a certificate of insurance should not be a problem. you'll know right away if it when you(the customer asks for it). Sorry i got off the subject, but i figured i would just kill two birds with one stone.
I have seen this allot so it is a little boring but it is also a good analogy. Like someone else here said it appears that the INS and ICE guys are starting to hear the voice of the American citizens. Raids have been stepped up over the last few months and even places like LA and the East Bay (up near San Fran) are conducting raids. BTW it looks as if the raid in East Bay area may end up in court because it was an inconvenience for the illegals.
Lets put this into proper prospective and also add that you have not talked with them but, seeing them cold and hungry in front of your house you say loudly that "there is food and clothing you would gladly give to help, if only someone could do the labor your too lazy or arrogant to do. There happens to be a hole in the back fence you've been meaning to fix, but haven't gotten to and the extra key is left under the doormat, just in case". Once these people get into your house, you treat them like they do NOT exist and only talk loudly to yourself when you need something done by them. Every time they request any payment for their services you threaten to call the police and tell them: "they should be grateful you even give them a roof over their heads. They are lazy, filthy and stupid and they like it that way, which is why you are better than them."
That is a much more accurate perspective on th immigration problem. The Immigration Reform Act of 1987 sets penalties against people who provide false documentation to people for crossing the border or seeking employment. It provides a $10,000 per day per person fine for employing undocumenteds. Its is rarely enforced, and when it is it is politically done and usually only against hispanic businesses. I worked in Pizza Hut, which had about 25% of the work force as undocumented and I KNOW three or four people TRIED to get immigration involved. They HAD documentation, but INS couldn't be bothered. There was no POLITICAL motivation to move against a WHITE company.
I also remember seeing the open gates in the border fence YEARS before the public was told the fence was going to be built. The gates were left open and unattended for DAYS, sometimes weeks because laborers were needed in the fields of California. It still continues to this day, because most Americans don't have any idea of what is happening along the border, and they don't care.

Bob, you do a good job of making it clear but anyone reading immigration in MyTend has already chosen their side. What needs to be done is organize a movement that lets politicians know that if they do not adopt a strong anti-illegal immigration stance including securing our southern border, jail time for employers hiring illegals, and mass deportation including hunting them down where ever they hide then that pol is out of a job. The vast majority of voters feel this way but if we don't make it very clear that if they don't do something we WILL fire them. I urge all of you right now to stop playing Answers and e-mail your representatives with your thoughts. Then mail my representatives and everybody elses. Let's get this thing rolling and done!
Im still trying to figure out which party is actually against illegals sneaking in (they arent true immigrants so i wont call them that.)
Which party is against this, and which party is going to do something to stop it? It seems like both sides say they want to stop it, but all they talk about doing is allowing it.
Repubs, dont even try to say its the democrats fault, and the same goes for you democrats. Neither side is doing squat about this issue.

I think the solution is to seal the border now and stop the flood of new illegals.
Recognize that we can never have enough good hard working people here in our lifetimes.
Any child in school should stay in school despite their status. Educating kids is the right thing to do.
Any illegal that graduates high school will be assimilated already and should get to stay and even get in state tuition. We need good kids that want an education. Its good for our country no matter where they come from.
Illegals who are employed and paying taxes and aren't criminals (except for that breaking in thing) should get to stay. They contribute to our economy.
Criminals should be deported after we seal our border so they can't come back.
Illegals who don't work should be sent back. They aren't good for our country and don't belong here.
Gang members should be sent back.
Lets keep all good people here. We need them.
Send the rest back to their own country.
It would work and it would benefit America.

Why don't we just deport everyone...you go back to Europe or wherever you came from. Honey, I think that those people you are talking about have been on this continent for much longer that you or your "people". Of course something must be done about immigration but it can't be so cut and dry as saying they can't come here...they are going to come here...you would try to if your salary was only $100 per month and you had mouths to feed. It's about survival. You can be self-righteous and say that you wouldn't get yourself into that situation but you weren't born into it. We can't just close our eyes to the problem. Maybe we should start being just a little more supportive of the economies in out neighboring countries and they wouldn't have to come here.
Yeas entering the border illegally is not right but you can't compare that to someone breaking into your house. Its not the same illegal immigrants don't demand to say here. They are ASKING for an opportunity. There are illegal immigrants here with children don't they have the right to have a decent living. Illegal immigrants are not demanding education for their kids most of their kids have this right because they ARE American citizens.
