I am a US citizen by birth. I live in the USA. How do I get dual citizenship in the United States and Canada?

My mother is a native of Canada. She became a naturalized citizen of the USA in 1948. I was born in 1965. My mother owns a home in her native province which I will inherit at her death. I already spend time each year at that home. I would like to be a citizen of my mother's ancestral country, Canada, where I plan to visit and live part of each year for the rest of my life.

Answer:
Just apply
It should be easy for you having family that is Canadian
Go to the link below and read it. Great information.
I believe if you apply for Canadian citizenship and get it, Canada will recognize your dual citizenship. However, the U.S. will not, and recognize you only as a citizen of the U.S.
All you need to do is apply for Canadian citizenship, Canada has allowed Dual Citizenship for years and the US started allowing it about 15 to 20 years ago.

I know several people that have duo citizenship between Canada and the US.

Did you Know that Raymond Burr the actor was the first person to apply and get dual citizenship with Canada and the US?

Anyway, here is the official link to get the information you need, the requirements, forms etc.

Good Luck!
