What % of people that whine about illegals have never been 50 miles from where they were born?
Answer:
What does it matter that they haven't traveled?
Illegals are still ILLEGAL.
Proud To Be American! We're the best nation on earth to live on.
So why illegal aliens come to United States and refuse to learn English?
I have traveled all over the world and lived in many places.
I don't understand the point of your question. Suppose an American has never left his home state. Does this mean that he has no foundation for concern about his tax dollars being diverted to accomodate non-tax-paying illegals or depressed wages?
So true my friend..
This country has the least amount of international travel of all first world countries.Maybe if people got out of there own back yard, they would have a much deeper understanding of life, in the real world.
1) I have no idea.
2) It has no bearing on the issue. 1 doesn't have to be a world traveler to know the meaning of "illegal".
ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL! The door is open i think! If you want to take a shortcut, you have to pay the price! I would want the same thing for my country if i was american!
I don't object to people coming here to earn a living. We grant hundreds of thousands of work visas every year for that express purpose. We also make sure the people with the visas work for the same pay scale as our citizens in the same jobs so they make more money and don't unfairly compete with our own people. What I object too is people sneaking across the border because if they have to commit a crime to get here why should I believe they will suddenly law abiding after that. They are a threat to our nations security, a drain on or public services, and unfair competition to our work force. They also are taken advantage of so badly by our un-ethical employers that a life of crime is almost justified after being here. You can defend them and you're probably right but I don't blame them. I blame our politicians and business who encourage and assist them by displaying ethical and moral fiber that would shame a rat.
I've been all over the world, and yes I've seen very poor. But I do still want our laws obeyed. Come here legally, or not at all. No amnesty, No reform.
This is an example of why illegals protests are so absurd...
Recently large demonstrations have taken place
across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.
*Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder
to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.*
*Let me see if I correctly understand
the thinking behind these protests.
"WHAT IF I BROKE INTO YOUR HOUSE"
______________________________...
Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover
me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the
dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest **
(except for when I broke into your house) .
According to the protesters:
*You are also Required... to let me stay in your house .**
(1) You are Required...to add me to your family's insurance plan .
(2)You are Required... to Educate my kids
(3)You are Required... to Provide other benefits to me & to my family.
remember...
(my husband will do all of your yard work because
he is also hard-working and honest, except for that
breaking in to your house part).
*If you try to call the police or force me out,
I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my **
RIGHT** **to be there.*
It's only fair, after all... because you have
a nicer house than I do, and I'm just
trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working
and honest, person, except for well,
you know, I did break into your house*
*And what a deal it is for me! **
*I live in your house, contributing only a
fraction of the cost of my keep, and
there is nothing you can do about it
without being accused of cold, *
*uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and
bigoted behavior.
Oh yeah,** I DEMAND** that you to learn **
MY LANGUAGE! **so you can
communicate with me.*
*Now do you see how ridiculous
this is?! The house being broken into is America...the benefits are paid with American citizens tax dollars.,you have broken in to our country illegally.you have no rights!
Go home and come back in LEGALLY!and get in line behind those who are doing it the correct way! We are not an anti-immigration country,we are just against law breaking and illegal immigration.
First and Foremost if i was to go to another country to earn a living...I WOULD LEARN THAT COUNTRIES LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!... I WOULDN'T WANT THEM TO CATER TO ME THAT IS NOT THEIR JOB !
It's not even about not knowing the language. Most immigrants (illegal or not - I don't really ask people that...) that I know who are here in the US, *do* have some fundamental understanding of English, but are embarrassed to try to use it conversationally. Or, they encounter so much anger & derision when they do so, exposing their 'foreign-ness' to 'illegal-hating' Americans that they decide it's just easier to not even try to speak English at all. Frightened & shy & feeling chastened, they duck back into the spanish-speaking (or whatever their native language is) community for safety & comfort. After a while, most of that English that they did have is lost from dis-use.
English is not an easy language to learn, under any circumstances. It's even harder to learn when you also have a family to take care of. How many of you are working parents with young children? Can you imagine how hard it would be to find time in your days to fit in language classes, along with the rest of your responsibilities?
I travelled in Europe in my 20's. I had 5 years of Spanish in 8th grade & high school. I had 1 year of French in college. I did OK in spanish-speaking countries. But, in France, people were absolutely awful to me. I'd try asking directions, asking questions about menus, buses, hostels, trains and was met with confused looks (even though I knew that they had to have understood, basically, what I meant), derision and outright rudeness. I can fully imagine what it must feel like to be *trying* to speak English here in America and be met by hostility and derision. I can totally understand why this kind of attitude might make a person stop trying to speak English. Why bother?
I think that a change in America's attitude - an embracing of the tired, poor, yearning huddled masses, etc - might help to make our country (and the world in general) greater. I wouldn't mind if we were known to be kind people, anyway.
If that were true, it isn't by the way, then at least we'd know that none of them ever tried to infiltrate another country illegally or tried to get on welfare rolls to bankrupt another country. Hey, maybe even the 50 mile radius people have a point, too. A legal point, I might add. Most of us wouldn't go to live in another country without learning the language first. Why would you go there knowing you'd be an inferior by not being able to communicate ? Put your crying towel in the washing machine and stand up as an American. Try it you'll like it Mikey !
Good point. I think we sometimes forget humility and placing yourself in another persons moccasins. It's not them against us-it's learning from and teaching one another to live in balance. Unless your Native American - your great great grandparents were probably subject to some sort of discrimination at Ellis Island, new york, or some other state. As late as the 1950's Japanese internment camps, and targeting German families with discrimination were fairly common I have been told. These atrosities happened not as far in the past as we would like to think. I have faith we can all live together without killing one another. My opinion is to let in everyone who wants to come here. Give em a social security card and start taxing them. I don't think it's realistic to stop the flow of humanity from mexico to the united states. It reminds me of that line from jurasic park-life will find a way.
