Immigrants in USA, what do you like and dislike about Americans?

and what is better and worse about America compared to your place of birth.

Answer:
HAHA i soo agree with the girl above me F*ucking illegals need to go back to mexico! i might not have my nationality being native american but at least im LEGAL!!
this should be good. but i would guess that the fact that most americans "think" they orginated here 1st. if you ain't indian/mayan.you immigrated..or past family did.
Yea, let's here it now!
Many Americans have a lot of prejudiced opinions. Its hard to discuss a lot of things with them. Typically they will just get mad at you and won't even listen to what you are saying. I feel there is a lot of prejudice in them even though they will go to lengths to deny it. There seems to be a culture of fear and aggression here that I do not like. Despite being arrogant about their country, they are largely ignorant as to how it runs and do not show much independence; most are quite willing to believe whatever is on the televison. They are friendly but not very sympathetic and have little sympathy for others like you would expect of rich children. A lot pf people are kind of confrontational but once they confront you they don't tend to talk and have a discussion as much as taking potshots at you then retreating over and over again. There is often a mean-spiritedness in the popular culture . . . a substantial portion of your television programming is nothing more than people humiliating other people.

As for better or worse than my country . . . nearly everyone here is literate, in my country the illiterate people are about half the population and number nearly twice your entire population. in America things run rather smoothly and efficiently for the most part. The people tend to let you do what you want and not get into your business much. You have a great deal of personal freedom there. You have a lot of rights here, you have virtually none where I am from. Women are treated much better, adequate child care is given. The poor people are even fat here, no one ever starves. Education is guaranteed. You are really sitting on pure gold here even though most people don't recognize that.
I dont know where do I fit in this question...

As far as I am concerned, if someone doesn't like it here, they DONT have to stay.

Aggravating immigrant story: Had a very very very minor car altercation in my neighborhood where both myself and the other driver weren't technically in the right. (I was making a wide right turn into an alley, at the same time he decided to try and pass me on the right . regular neighborhood 2 lane road).

All he could do was scream I was driving too far to the left.all I could do is point out that it was a 2 lane road and you NEVER pass on the right.

But the real kicker: You Americans are idiots he screamed at me. (I think he was German or Swedish).

Two people in the wrong, but because I'm the American I'm an IDIOT. ANd he's in my country. Go figure.

We were both idiots. And he was an @ss.
There is danger in speaking in generalities since everyone is not the same but since you asked a very general question, here are some ideas:
What I like about America:
1. The many opportunities for economic advancement
2. Free schools, access to financial aid based on need.
3. The country does not have an obvious "class" system although there are visible racial and social limitations.
4. Elections are not marred by violence as in some countries. People have anonymity and protection and your neighbor doesn't have to know which candidate you voted for and you or your family won't be attacked or killed for voting for a party that someone else dislikes.
5. Public services are great: Electricity, clean and safe running water, good roads, sanitation/garbage pick-up, telephone service, public transportation, etc., and you don't have to wait for a year or more to get telephone service.
6. Americans are fairly disciplined. They stand in lines for everything and they have a sense of fairness.
7. The country is organized. People can depend on the post offices, banks, stores, businesses and government offices to be open when they are supposed to be open.

What I dislike:
1. Most Americans don't know much about other countries and don't seem to want to learn unless it affects oil prices.
2. Many Americans think every other country is inferior and they refuse to consider the possibility that American leaders may have negatively influenced other countries in some ways.
3. Many Americans assume that foreign born people are less intelligent or educated. So much so, that US schools often hold back foreign students once they arrive in the US because they assume that they are not as smart as American students.
4. Americans preach that the country is liberal, yet there is a lot of racism, sexism, prejudice against other sexual orientations, and ethnicities. You get the sense that other races or ethnicities survive because of their will to survive and not because they are treated with respect and fairness.
5. A lot of Americans are not well-informed about their own government. If you asked, who is the speaker of the house, how many terms does the president remain in office, how many senators in each state, etc., most people cannot answer.
6. Americans are often spoiled and ungrateful for the opportunities that exist here.
7. Many Americans sit on their laurels, don't know how to make the US system work to their advantage and get angry when foreigners learn to utilize the services and open opportunities to get ahead (not talking about welfare).
8. People in the US complain too much about little things. If a bus runs even five minutes late people get bent out of shape. If the weather is not good, they get angry at the weather man. I think the thing I dislike most about Americans is their open prejudice against non-whites and their refusal to own up to being prejudiced even while they are discriminating against others.
