That was only 20 people, but if they'd deported 20 million to get that 20 out of the country, it still would have been a bargain. The problem is that they're ILLEGAL!
A simpler way is to prove you're a US citizen to be able to get any welfare, unemployment, financial or medical aid of any kind.
This would solve a lot, (not all, but a lot) of the problem, as most of the drain on our society would vanish.
Stop all financial aid of any kind for any country that hates us, (that means pretty much the whole world, minus Israel and Maybe Jordan.Europe is for Europe, why the H*** are we supporting countries like Venezuela, Chavez is adamantly against us.) This would not only pay for deportation, but eliminate the national debt in a few years, (if we could get the government to stop spending more than..WHAT AM I SAYING!
EDIT: Some of the 911 hijackers were not here legally, so the possibility is the disaster could have been at least mitigated, if not outright eliminated. We also have these silly "no profile" liberal stupidity laws, another part of the problem. Follow the money. Why should an illegal immigrant have more rights than many US citizens? Free health care that the taxpayers, (read middle class & above), are paying for.

It can't be more than all the medical and social services and educational services for their kids. I am the child of a resident alien, so I am not opposed to immigrants, I am opposed to them entering illegally.
However, I also understand that there presence does serve a need in our economy. Our society has gotten so spoiled that our youth aren't willing to work and when a farmer is too old to run the farm, his family doesn't want to take over because they'd rather have the huge payout from developers; small business owners can't afford to pay all the taxes and insurance and minimum wage for their employees, yet no one can really make a decent living off minimum wage.
The rich are getting wealthier paying themselves hefty bonuses and stock options, while the working poor are growing in number. Something HAS to change!
If we tell the haters to volunteer to haul them out it might cost nothing.

What ever the price would be worth it for the economy more jobs more money into the market. I'll chip in.
They say it's going to cost us 2 trillion dollars to grant them amnesty, so there is some money right there that we could use to beef up our security and border patrol. Then we can start following the laws on the books, not rent to them, not hire them, and it will be easy, they will just leave on their own.

It would cost the US tax payer way too much money! I can understand removing people with a criminal record or making them pay for a crime they have committed in the United States or in their country of origin.

It will cost a lot less to deport every illegal alien than to pay their benefits for the next 60 years.
A bigger question is how would you find, roundup and deport that many people.
That is more than the total population of Colorado, Arizona and Nevada and more than the population of the entire country of Denmark.
Amnesty is the only way...then fix the borders..and NOT with fences (a ridiculous idea).
The practicality of deportation is mute.
Enforce the laws and seal the border and remove other economic incentives for illegal immigration and those who are here illegally will "deport" themselves.

take the jobs away from these wet backs by putting their employers on a chain gang. you wont have to deport one illegal at all, they'll deport themselves.
It wouldn't cost the government a penny.
Here's how:
1) Offer law enforcement officers a bounty for bringing in illegal aliens. $1,000 each, but penalty of $500 for wrongful arrest.
2) Offer the illegal alien a choice of reporting who has employed them or going to prison at hard labor. None will choose prison.
3) Fine the employer for the cost of the bounty plus the deportation costs.
No net cost to the government or taxpayer. Paid for entirely by the employers that should have verified their legal status.
End result: no more jobs for illegals, and the illegals deport themselves.

Why bother deporting them, if I had my way I would shoot the lot of them. Illegals cost normal people millions in tax, they steal our houses, our jobs, our women and our houses. What they are doing is a crime and I've got no time for them, if it was upto me I would prevent anyone from entering my country full stop and I would use that valuable money to set up patrols around the borders. I'm sure this would cost a lot less and reduce unemployment and crime rate. The government always make stuff like this complicated by using human cruelty legislation and rules like that, if they kept it simple then we wouldn't be having this discussion.
The best way is to start with self-deportation.
1. Jail, fine, and/or close the businesses down of criminal employers hiring illegal aliens
2. Deny housing to illegal aliens.
3. Deny free health care or any other sort of governmental assistance to illegal aliens.
4. Deport those that are left.
5. If 1, 2, and 3 are REALLY accomplished, this would be more effective than ANY border wall. If there are no jobs, housing, or health care to illegals, there's no reason to come!
Granting amnesty accomplishes NOTHING!! It was granted before...and we now have 8-10 times MORE illegal aliens than we did then...Why should ANY illegal aliens be granted citizenship or "amnesty' ahead of those applying for citizenship legally??? Just because they "successfully" broke the law by coming and remaining here?
