Because our ancestors STOLE this land from the Native Americans, and raised us to think that we deserve to have everything, even if it belongs to someone else. Calling the country America started out as a short form of the United States of America, like Estados Unidos de Mexico calls itself Mexico. But as the gringo arrogance grew, they started to think of themselves as the only America that mattered. Too bad.

I have never heard a Canadian, German, Frenchman, Israeli etc call Americans Gringos. So I assume that now Mexico is the "rest of the world". Well, call us whatever you like, just have legal status in our country when you do it.
