Republicans like Trent Lott, John McCain and George Bush look after Corporate interests with the Cheap Labor "Guest Worker" Provision and lax border enforcement.
Democrats like Ted Kennedy also support this and the amnesty would give the Democrats more potential voters.
Neither of these groups of supporters of the Immigration Bill seem concerned with American jobs being lost to low wage "Guest Workers" or illegal immigrants. Thank you to Tom Tancredo, Barbara Boxer, Bernie Sanders and others that have come out against the bill!

No.3 followed by a policy of eliminating the corruption in the Mexican Government, to provide stabilization between the US and Mexico, so that the incentive would be to stay south of the border instead of moving north!

Three or tres for the illegal crowd.
Deportation is not a likely option as it is not possible nor does it make sense. Sanctions and pathway to legality is the best once. The nations knows and recognizes the contributions of all immigrants, and especially undocumented immigrants, that is is not in its best interest to pursue deportation, becuase that would not work anyways.
A combination of 2&3. Start enforcing the laws and most will go home on their own. Deport those that won't go home on their own.
What really needs to happen is a return to common sense. Something that has been missing for a long time.
Plyler vs Doe makes no sense yet the Supreme beings somehow decided that the american people need to pay to educate illegals. It did not occur to them that they were here illegally and should be deported. It started the look the other way policies. The Doe was used to protect the identities of the illegals! Gee maybe the Supreme Gods were afraid that the plaintiffs would get deported and they would have no more case.
Option #1 absolutely will not work. It does not even come close to any kind of reform. Comprehensive reform looks like this.
Reverse Plyler vs Doe. The decision made is, in fact, unconstitutional. No where in the Constitution does it state that ANYONE in the US is entitled to a free public education.
Interpret the citizenship clause of the 14th amendment the way it's authors intended. "The mere accident of birth in the United States is not sufficient to grant citizenship"
Immediately declare martial law in any city that declares itself sanctuary. Sanctuary cities by their very nature are in violation of the EQUAL protection provision of the 14th amendment.
Finally we need to look at all policies and procedures of our law enforcement and government agencies and ensure that they work in concert with one another instead of against one another.
