I'm going to get a passport so I can cross the border, I was wondering?

what should you do if your passport get’s lost or stolen Mexico. I don’t want to get harassed again by border patrol like last time when I only brought my driver’s license.

Answer:
go to the embassy and they should help you
go to your embassy
Make copies of the documents, credit cards, license and keep separately. Visit the embassy if your passport is lost or stolen.
You should make a couple of copies of the picture page of your passport, both sides. Put one copy in your suitcase and one in your wallet.

ALWAYS keep your passport with you in a secure place..your back pocket is not the place...get a money belt, carry a small tote, get a fanny pack..

If you lose your passport, you will need to contact the closest U.S. Consulate or Embassy in Mexico. Take a copy of your passport with you and a new one can be issued.

This is not always easy to do if you are at a beach resort. It may be a coupla hundred miles to the Consulate.

Just be careful, don't leave your passport in your room or at the front desk of the hotel. Keep it with you, keep it safe.
