Why should we give illegal immigrants a route to citizenship.?

I understand why we might want to give illegal immigrants legal residency here. Racist and dishonest employers abuse illegal immigrants because they know they are afraid that if they complain about the abuse, they could be deported. IF we legally acknowledge them, we would end this cycle of abuse. I don't understand why we should give them an opportunity to be a citizen. They are not the most desirable to become a citizen, because they already broke our laws. If we give them residency, we are giving what they want most, a higher standard of living. We promised them nothing, unlike our legal immigrants. They were warned not to come here, by the fact we made it illegal for them to be here. Any abuse they recieve was partially caused by them disregarding are warning not to come here. Why we should give them our greatest gift, the right to vote. I acknowledge they have rights, and giving them residency would fulfill that.

Answer:
They are already here.
It would cost a lot to deport them (assuming we could actually locate then all)
They broke laws in order to survive and feed their families (not child molestation or murder)
They can pay more taxes than just sales taxes.
Their children can go to college and contribute to our society in many ways.
I wonder what their homeland would be like if all the illegals here now had stayed home and fought to reform their country.
The issue is actually a lot more complicated than that but sure, you have a good point...
We are not giving illegal criminal immigrants a route to citizenship.
We should give illegal immigrants a path to citizenship IF AND ONLY IF they move back to their native countries, and apply for citizenship the legal way!
No reason to give them anything but a return to wherever they came from, along with their wives/girlfriends, and their children. We should also not recognize these children as citizens, so that these illegals, can not collect from our welfare system, and get free health care. Our taxes should be used for Americans, not those who play the system.
everyone thinks that mexicans havent fot for reform in their country but they have... and still are. too bad its soo corrupt and disgusting . to become part of the governmetn you have to be corrupt. if you join them you will become corrupt thats mexico for you

but dont worry the rest of you citizens if reform passes or not .. this won't affect your life honies.. you will be okay. just the anxious illegals
i don't care about citizenship for these refugees, but i do care about the abuse they are receiving at the hands of first the land barons and political "leaders" of their home countries, and then the US government, and then to be subjected to the hatred of right wing "christians" in this country once they make the long and arduous journey north, risking their lives to come here to freedom.
INHO, they have one right ... to leave this country and suck off their own.
We shouldn't . They broke our laws, they march in our streets with their flags and tell us what language to speak. They deserve nothing. Of course I am not surprised that our congress could not come up with a decent bill. This is the same people that voted for a fence and have done nothing about it.
At this point, no. We need to take care of our own poor, homeless, elderly with subsistent incomes. Improve inner-city housing for our citizens. Improve education and provide opportunities for our own children.
It is time to draw the line and show everyone now that illegal aliens will not be rewarded in any fashion for violating our borders. Any acceptance would only encourage more. The illegal influx must be deterred, not encouraged.
We should encourage legal and only legal immigration.

Daniel, why do you assume none of us anti-illegals have ever served in the military? I have. My stepson recently came home from Iraq.
Think of this question instead. "Why have we made it illegal to move to the US?"

Open the borders and let us enjoy our neighbors.
Now that I know my fiance visa chances are not going to be hurt by all 12 million illegal immigrants being able to apply for their green card and/or citizenship, I am willing to change my stance on the issue. I was so afraid that immigration changes would harm my chances of applying fiance visa that I contacted both my senators and an immigration attorney.
The response from local senators office was not good until I checked with the same senator's office in D.C.

I told the D.C. office what immigration attorney told me and i was told their response was more credible than one I got at local office. If there is one thing to be learned here it is that communication on this issue needs to reach from D.C. level to local level the instant something is known.

It is not going to help matter when local level says one thing and the national office says something else.

Makes you wonder who to believe. I guess that is why there are problems in our presidential race due to knowing what to believe.
I have asked this question before ,I have not received a rational explanation form anyone. I have not heard any of you "real Americans" fighting to take the jobs that Americans can do in Iraq, Those Hispanics are 9.5 of the active American forces, They represent over 17.5 percent of the troops on the front lines and account for 13 percent of casualty rate according to DOD statistics. They are taking those jobs anyway from the Anglos, why are there not a real American concern about that, You chose to the talk the talk but are afraid to walk the walk, isn't that true !!.
