Immigration?

I am a US citizen and I have a son in a third world country born out of wedlock, can I bring him to USA?

Answer:
If he's really your son, yes.good luck!
Talk to the Immigration service. They'll have better informaion to offer than anyone on here.
Is he a minor? He may get derivitive citizenship. Were you a citizen when he was born? I'm not sure if you are for real, but in case you are, the answer would be at uscis.gov
of course you can.
If you can prove he is your child, that you were a US citizen at the time he was born, and that you lived in the US long enough to transmit citizenship, he can be documented as a citizen, too. Once he receives his FS-240 and US passport, he can go to the US whenever you and he want him to. Here is the process:

If he's really your son, if your name shows in his papers as his father and if he's a minor, yes, you can as long as the mother agrees. You cannot bring her because she's not your wife.
.
Anybody who has an American parent is automatically a US citizen, just proving he is your son may take some doing since you were not married to his mother.

If you were a citizen while he was still under 18 he will automaticaly be a citizen
even if he is an adult, he has the right to come here
You will have to report his birth abroad at the US Embassy, you will need to produce a NSO type birth certificate and prove you where with his mother at time of conception, the babies mother will also have to be present and you both will be placed under oath stating you are the parents of the child. You will need the following forms that you can get at the US Embassy
DS-11 application for Passport
DS-2019 Application for consular report birth abroad
Affidavit of Parentage and Physical Presence
4 2X2 passport photos of the child
$147 usd filling fee
Then it will take 6 to 8 weeks, I just went through this last week here in the Philippines.
yes, but you might need a lawyer
It's not as simple as some people here are leading you to believe. Just because you're a US citizen doesn't mean your son is one automatically if his mother's not a citizen and he was born outside the US. There are other factors to consider. The only good information I'm seeing regarding his being a possible citizen is from "dognhorsemom".

If you're just wanting him to come as a legal resident, and not planning to register him immediately as a citizen, it's still not as simple as some people might think.

But don't trust me, or anyone else in a forum, to give you the correct answer. The definitive answer should come from USCIS (aka: Immigration) or the State Department. Just visit the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov or the State Dept at www.state.gov, follow the links and read for yourself.

Oh, and the fact that it's a "third world country" doesn't matter.
